You're right about superhero films, however things come and go in cycles. Westerns used to be the superhero films of their time, but they aren't anymore. I don't think superhero films will disappear completely, but tastes change over time when people get bored of the same old thing.

The hologram thing enables comedians/presenters/ singers/performers to interact in real time with cinema audiences. I think it had huge potential and the technology is in place it just needs to scale up.

This would be additive, by no means am I suggesting it would be a new form of film. Rather, more income for cinema chains.

I don’t think one even needs 3D glasses. It’s not Augmented reality, it’s holographic tech within the confines of the cinema I believe.

Number 1 priority is film and whatever helps to keep films on a big screen, I’m happy with.

I bought this movie on iTunes last night and I dont know why but the picture quality isnt as great as I hoped it to be. At least not my «copy». The picture isnt that clear and crisp as other movies, and it sure doesnt look like 4K…! It looks more like DVD. Anyone else experiencing this? It cant be my internet connection since everything else looks like it should… any tips?

I have no problems with picture quality - it's sharp and the Dolby Vision presentation is great.

However, the Dolby Atmos soundtrack is REALLY weak. The volume is really low and there are hardly any dynamics. This soundtrack should be ripping the house apart, but fails miserably.

Yeah, the second half, particularly Act 3, of Maverick really bumps it up a notch over the first film for me.

They tend to be a few dB louder, certainly, but digital varies wildly.

Take Blade Runner 2049 on iTunes. Every bit as loud and dynamic as the disc.

Even Super 8 on iTunes with its bog standard DD 5.1 384kbps track. That crashing train sounds like it's coming through the house.

Then there's Maverick - lacking in any kind of power whatsoever. The annoying thing is that there's no technical reason why that should be. It's just a very poor mix.

Hopefully the disc is everything it should be. The sound was incredible in both IMAX and Atmos.

I don't think so; by August 28 it could well be in the neighborhood of $692 million.
Maverick's flick sticks by its majestick shtick @ the box officks (no gimmick, it's the real ficks).

It will surpass Black Panther by Labor Day, I think.
