Tom Cruise sold his soul to Scientology. I'm calling it now....he will live to see 120, starring in Mission: Impossible 36.

I feel like Maverick and Iceman falling in love and finally coming to terms with their own sexuality would be a great way to bring the story full circle.

It was right there all along.

...everyone could see it but them.

I didn't know Val had cancer, wow. Is he even acting anymore? After batman forever his career sort of dried up... I loved him in heat.

It's because he has swelling of the tongue still, he hasn't fully come out with type of cancer or tumor but it was in his throat.

He needs to get back into the movie scene after being away. All he really has been doing is his artwork.
I haven't listened to the commentary track yet, I wonder if I play the audio backwards I'll hear some satanic verses.

Val didn't do himself any favours in the past with his difficult behaviour on movies and being a bit of a diva but he definitely deserves another shot and Cruise is a smart (and generous) guy so who knows.

I totally agree, undoubtedly he would be much more of a humble actor after experiencing how quickly you can end up from A level to B level movies just by working reputation.

Yes exactly. It can be very difficult to claw a career back after one has a reputation or one does themselves no favours. A bit of humble pie is no doubt required and I can't imagine these days that Val would exhibit any of his old behaviour as it would really be shooting himself in the foot. He definitely deserves another shot and I wish him the best with his career and health. I for one have always enjoyed his performances.

Others have already mentioned the cancer but I actually wanted to say that you're seeing him with a camera phone quality picture in sub par lighting without the magic of movie make up that they use on the actors too.

It makes a huge difference but he actually looks quite good considering what he's been through and also the yo yo weight gain and loss he had a few years back. I'd definitely like to see him in a sequel. More than a cameo though. I want him starring alongside Tom as an instructor.

I don't know if Cruise has any issues with Kilmer. Kilmer was supposed to be in Collateral but had scheduling conflicts with Alexander.

Of course, Kilmer and Cruise's sole interaction would've been Cruise shooting him, so...

Will Paramount still be doing business in 2019? There's a rumor that Disney wants to purchase the studio (which is impossible because that would be a monopoly) and they might as well.

I mean, no other major studio is doing worse than these guys, not even frickin' Sony. After 2015, they've been incredibly unsuccessful, what with their flops like:

• Allied
• Zoolander
• Jack Reacher
• Ben Hur
• 13 Hours
• TMNT
• Monster Trucks
• Everybody Wants Some
• Whisky Tango Foxtrot
• Silence
• Baywatch
• Ghost in the Shell
• Rings

Even their biggest money makers, Transformers and Star Trek, aren't the franchises they once were. They've had one big hit, Arrival, and a few others that barely made their money back but even they can't help them. Out of all their upcoming films, I think only God Particle will do good business. Downsizing, Mother, and Suburbicon will all undeniably receive great reviews and award noms but it remains to be seen if they'll be financially secure.

The last Star Trek definitely lost some money so you might as well add that to the list, although it may have made up some ground with home video and I'm sure merchandising softened the blow but who know how much of that they get to keep. But you're 100% right, they've been mostly a disaster financially, although unlike Sony, some of their flops (Allied, 13 Hours, Silence, Arrival) are at least good movies.

Val Kilmer should definitely be given the chance to play Iceman again. It would be interesting to see that character after 30 years, probably less egotistical but still a great pilot. I'd also like to see Goose's son all grown up, as a teacher or experienced flyer.
