They probably won't release it in Blu-ray, I think it will only get a DVD release. They'll release it years later for a double-dip.

I'm not offended, I just feel sorry for you.

I passed on buying the trilogy on DVD a couple of months ago, expecting that they'd come to BD soon enough... and it looks like I was right!

Please God let this come to Bluray and let it have every extra known to man and be just as good as the DVD counterpart if not better in that aspect.

The 3 of them are some the BEST films ever made.

It's being restored in 4k just like Blade Runner. So even the DVD will look good than it's counterparts.

Doubtful that it will include all the extras from the other set. They're not listed and it still shows 5 discs. It would need 6 to fit all of these.

Default Godfather Restored may be coming

http://www.thedigitalbits.com/#mytwocents

The restored Godfather trilogy is being released on DVD in Europe. No announcement yet for Blu-ray in any region, but hopefully that will change. It would be a shame to do a restoration on something like this and only use it for DVD.

I'm wary of the restoration. I've seen all of the Godfather films presented theatrically. The last thing I want is a video-souped-up, sheening, brimming, laser-ringing, hyper-colored bit-fest. I know Robert Harris is involved, but I think about such abominations as the digital ring-a-thon known as North by Northwest -- a restoration in which the film no longer resembles the film-based medium -- at all -- in any way. The DVD looks like the print was struck from a hard drive. I do not want a Blu-Ray version of The Godfather Trilogy that no longer approximates its original intended appearance.

Just MY two cents...

Oh man... these films. The Godfather 1 & 2 are gifts to humanity. Just perfect, fully-formed expressions of cinematic genius. American cinema of the 1970s had more than its share of gems, and these are two of the most important crown jewels.

In fact, I'm a little jealous of anyone that gets to see them for the first time on Blu. Enjoy it!

People should avoid picking these up on DVD and just wait for them on BD. I am sure they will be out soon enough.

Just as Copalla did a supervision/resturation on the Dracula movie and the fact that he loves blu-ray, I would would expect at least the same effort on the Godfather series.
