I gave up trying to convince them.
Agreed. In standard HDR mode on my C6 it’s blatantly obvious that color gamut should be “normal” for correct HDR reproduction, as anything else looks over-processed. What I haven’t yet been able to decide is whether there’s a problem with the Dolby Vision settings. It’s not possible to change the color gamut setting because it’s greyed out, yet it’s fixed on “wide”. Some things in DV look more vivid than others.

I believe that's correct for DV. The setting is actually the same, it's just the nomenclature that's different. HDR video uses a wide colour gamut, so DV labels the normal setting "wide." For HDR10, LG"s logic was that a wide colour gamut is normal for HDR video, so the correct setting should be labelled normal. It's stupid that they're inconsistent. I still think having "wide" be the correct setting makes more intuitive sense.

Hmm, I'd like to hear more about this. I have no idea yet what to set my LG UH8500 to for Dolby Vision (or HDR10 for that matter, other than setting color gamut to normal).

Maybe that clears it up for me actually. So then Dolby Vision is doing it right when locking it to wide, but HDR10 needs to be set to normal because normal is really wide in HDR10 mode, correct? Sp basically set HDR10 to normal and leave it there, and don't worry about the Dolby Vision gamut setting.

I still don't know what picture mode to use for HDR10 - HDR standard, HDR bright, or HDR vivid. To me, standard looks the most natural. Vivid seems too saturated and processed. For Dolby Vision I have settings for movie bright, movie dark, and vivid. I have it set to movie bright currently but all I've used it for is a demo clip.

I drove by a BB today. I had turned back around and said I would get it later.

I just hope I get a slip with mine.

I took a chance and mailed Amazon my thoughts about this reduction in price 7 days after release date (after having the item on pre-order for 2 months) and they came through this time and refunded me the difference so I also only paid $9.51 for this!

Happy again!!

Damn, they told me they don't do price differences and I'd have to place a new order and return my original order once it arrives

Holy shit that's a phenomenal deal!! I've been checking wowhd to see if the price has dropped but Amazon just blew them away. Wonder if it's a mistake

That is just plain stupid!! Are they trying to say it is cheaper to have the item returned and a new one sent out for the lower price, than to just refund the difference?

I got a reply from one of their CS representatives back in February of 2015 that stated: "please be advised that we do price match items shipped and sold by Amazon.com so long as the order has not shipped yet or it is not more than 7 days from the date it was delivered." (I asked them if they did this as someone had claimed it was so on one of the Blu-ray.com forum threads).

Lately they have backed out of this, though. No explanation, just "We don't do that!". But when the difference is as big as it is in this case I try anyway and refer to the mail mentioned above and this time it worked (but it is far from every time that it do!!).
