Hoping for a standard release anytime soon, the eBay seller doesn't ship to where I live, and the used asking prices are not even close to worth it IMO. :-/

I think I'm going to start buying those protective cases for my steelbooks. They have these on Amazon.ca (and not a bad price): https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B09...ustomerReviews

I've never really been a steelbook guy, but Sony keeps putting out these DV steelbook upgrades and Paramount often has better art on their steels as opposed to their standard packaging (and it's a way for me to avoid fugly bilingual packaging as steels generally aren't bilingual) so I've amassed a small collection of like 30 4K steels. I think it's time I start putting these things in protectors.

To add to this, the 5.1 track is the original mix that 99% of people would hear in theaters upon release either in Dolby or DTS. I'm not sure what the basis of the Atmos mix was, perhaps it was the premiere SDDS mix for this. Both of them are awesome.

I've just re-read my first message and I realize that without context it looks like I bought the steel for 80 dollars lol It only cost me 36 dollars. As I said, it was in stock from Amazon UK but not listed under 4K.

This is a nice find! With these bad boys I could live with an occasional steelbook if nothing else is available. :-)

$30 for 20 of them? That's quite an investment if someone has 100 steelbooks. They're charging $1.50 a piece and they probably cost about .30-.50 to make.

Yeah it's an investment if you have 100 lol, but I only have like 30.

And that's CAD dollars, btw. $30 CAD is about $21 USD.

I mean if you know somewhere cheaper, I'm all ears. There are a lot of eBay listings and they're cheaper...if you live in the states. Once you factor in international shipping it comes to about the same.

I wish I did know somewhere. I guess that's just the markup for small clear pieces of plastic online.

It really is crazy.

There was one listing on Amazon.ca for 100 protective cases…for $161. Lol. What a joke.

I work with a lot of different materials and there's no reason that these should cost even a $1 a piece for the consumer.

Yeah, they’re a great seller. I picked this up along with three other Sony 4K steels. Made two separate orders so got $20 off the already reasonable price (they currently have a discount code that expires on 4/1). Shipped in a box with padding but my Kwai steel was completely broken in two inside the shrink wrap. Messaged them a pic of the damage and they immediately sent out another copy, also in a box with padding, at no extra charge.

Dunno if they’re all still in stock but listed below are the Sony 4K steels I bought from them. Paid $90.46 for the lot after tax (free shipping).

Bridge on the River Kwai
Fright Night
Bram Stoker’s Dracula
Starship Troopers

I noticed that i had too many glossy Steels, and yeah,
with all the Sony re-releases, i bought this pack (got another one coming)
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07NK37B3P?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_detail s

less per pack (10 vs 20) than the one you bought,
but this one's pretty good too, i packed Heat, RoboCop, Aquaman,
Last Action Hero, Léon, The Fast and the Furious & Indiana Jones steels before i realized i didn't had more for Starship Troopers, Dracula & more.

Appreciate you sending the link, but this is what I'm talking about lol. Having this shipped internationally, you get absolutely killed on postage to the point where it's not worth it.

So this is $12.99 USD + $10.97 to ship to Canada, which comes to $23.96 USD ($34.02 CAD) so I'd actually be paying more for less.

Wasn't kidding when I said that Amazon.ca deal was the best one I could find.
