If you ever bothered to read more than a headline, you would know combined with an antibiotic (used to prevent secondary infections in the lungs, traditionally), they had 100% virus free (or as far as the test can measure) in 6 days for ALL patients given the actual drugs (70% virus free in 6 days without the antibiotic added). So YES, it means it went away. It's not just covering symptoms and it will likely save many lives in the near future.

But hey, we can ignore the truth, yell at the messenger of the good news and cry some more that we're all gonna die instead some more....

Perhaps. But with all these kids locked in small spaces with their parents, babies crying, college students gaming, other folks blasting their speakers with music, arguments in general, etc., I expected the absolute worst with the forced quarantine. California is one thing, but buildings in NYC with multiple rooms spread across multiple floors is another beast entirely. This coming from someone who used to live in NJ and knows the horrors of noisiness on just a good normal day.

This is why I will never live in the city ever again lol. Living in the country is great. No one tells me what to do and I shoot from my back yard. Plant a big garden and just pretty much do whatever. I mean the city and the suburbs are good for convenience but other then that you can have it.

More good news about the use of that anti-malaria drug hydroxychloroquine

A group of patients who were among the first in Australia with confirmed cases of coronavirus have been successfully treated using two existing drugs.

They were given HIV medication Kaletra and malaria treatment hydroxychloroquine in a secret trial.

The test was so successful that the same drugs will now be given to COVID-19 patients in 50 hospitals around Australia.

The two drugs were highly effective when used against coronavirus in test tubes. Researchers then conducted a secret trial on the group of patients - all of whom have completely recovered.

University of Queensland Centre for Clinical Research Director Professor David Paterson - who is also Consultant Infectious Diseases Physician at the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital - was part of the team that made the discovery.

'These medications have the potential to be a real cure for all, unlike the random anecdotal experiences of some people,' Professor Paterson said.

The problem with hydroxychloroquine is the dosage. 1 gram is fine. 2 grams will kill you. It has not yet been approved by the FDA for CV-19

Apparently it's effective, even at lower doses. I would hope the FDA wouldn't stick to their usual trials process with this one given how long it's been around, and the relative safety of it (in lower doses). At the very least, patients should be able to get it through compassionate use.
