It appears grocery stores are starting to have more supplies on the shelves. They're not back to normal just yet, but it's am improvement from where we were. Breads, cereals, canned goods, frozen foods, and cleaning supplies were available. Pastas and pasta sauces were still pretty bare and there was some meat available (pork and chicken), but no beef. So, it appears people are starting to calm down a bit and aren't wiping out the stores like a few weeks ago.

In Quebec (my blood and soul) things aren't pretty. It's getting worse by the hour.
Many many people are still making grave mistakes. Travellers are flying back from other regions and land in Quebec, their homeland. They cut short their vacations because they were worry to be stuck in Mexico, and other places. They have to quarantine for 14 days. Not everyone is doing what they supposed to do, how can you do that with an entire population...it's impossible...many don't like watching the news, others don't believe what's happening, some think that people are getting hysteric with hysteria fever. The oil industry is considered essential in Canada, more than the pandemic, so oil workers are still working to keep the economy afloat and the oil pumping (Alberta). Economists, scientists, politicians signed a piece of paper asking the Canadian government to keep the oil industry flowing as an essential survival for the Canadian economy. Save jobs first, lives second. Other than that we are waiting till the next wave, after the USA...New York, Washington, etc. If that wave is anything resembling Italy and Spain ... you know the rest of the story. Stay safe in Alberta, keep a good distance, stay home, wash your hands before and after grocery shopping @ 7:00 AM @ dedicated stores (seniors). Wash your vegetables, and abstain of having close contact with anyone, including your wife and children. It's best to be safe than sorry. Last edited by LordoftheRings; 03-26-2020 at 05:44 PM. |

A grocery store threw out $35,000 in food that a woman intentionally coughed on, sparking coronavirus fears, police said
https://www.cnn.com/2020/03/26/us/wo...rnd/index.html Along with the criminal charges, she should have to pay the store $35,000 in restitution. |

Looks like some hospitals, or at least one, is now being overwhelmed, & these aren't my words, they're the words from the doctor & a ER nurse on scene, & the local Councilman. Dr. Ashley Bray of Elmhurst Hospital in NY told the NY Times, "It's apocalyptic." Officials say the 545-bed hospital is overrun and in desperate need of supplies. It’s currently operating at more than 125 percent capacity, compared to its typical 80 percent capacity rate. "It's like working at a field hospital in the middle of a war zone," one ER nurse told The Post. "New patients are lined up the doors and there aren’t enough beds to hold them. Equipment is running out faster than we can restock it. I’ve never seen anything like it." According to the New York Times, some people have died inside the emergency room while waiting for a bed. City Councilman Francisco Moya (D-Queens) who was born at Elmhurst, says of Elmhurst - "They’re inundated." He also says that Elmhurst staffers on the front lines are "doing a tremendous job with limited resources they have," but the hospital is "at a critical stage. They’re not going to be able to sustain, the relief has to be there for the doctors and nurses. And quickly." The hospital has brought in a refrigerated semi-tractor trailer to store the dead.
One NYC ICU doctor says that "9/11 was nothing compared to this. We were waiting for patients to come in back then, but they never came. Now, they're coming & they're coming in all ages, so don't delude yourself into thinking that only the old are affected." DNR orders are also now being re-evaluated at many hospitals to help safeguard healthcare workers. Seeing the look on their faces & hearing the concern in their voices is just heart-wrenching & so very sad. ![]() Last edited by BucketheadPikes; 03-26-2020 at 06:46 PM. |

The travel documents referred to are to identify personnel that are considered workforce essential personnel. You won't need the paperwork unless you're actually stopped by law enforcement which is very unlikely since every shelter in place and stay at home order allows people to still go out for what is considered essential services (grocery, exercise, medical appointments, etc.).

They're going to be opening up Javits Center in New York soon (maybe a week) along with the 3 other makeshift hospitals set to deploy.
For anyone who wants to see the pictures of the planning and equipment they brought in to Javits Center: https://www.businessinsider.com/phot...-center-2020-3 |

It looks like cases are exploding across the country now. I know NY has far and away the most, but I think our numbers are partly so high because we're testing way more than anywhere else (we did 18K tests yesterday alone). New Jersey's numbers have skyrocketed, going from 727 new cases yesterday to 2,474 today. Many states like Louisiana, Florida, and Georgia are also have difficulties. Feels pretty dire.

Makes me wonder if Germany are manipulating their numbers too. They have a huge amount of cases, but only 239 deaths, it doesn't add up at all.

(CNN) – Dyson may be known for vacuum cleaners and hand dryers, but the coronavirus has forced the company to shift its focus to ventilators.
Founder James Dyson designed a new one in just 10 days at the request of UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson. The “CoVent” was designed for COVID-19 patients and can be manufactured quickly, which is key as demand rises fast. Dyson said the new ventilator was designed to “address the specific needs” of coronavirus patients. The company is manufacturing at least 15,000 of the medical devices – 10,000 for the British government, another 5,000 will be donated to the international pandemic effort. A Dyson spokesperson said the ventilators should be ready by early April. |
