In my state of California this golden time concept has actually led to physicians prescribing to themselves and their now otherwise healthy (but for to have it on hand just in case when symptoms do present) family members hydroxychloroquine sulfate and chloroquine phosphate products.

I know in Austria masks are mandatory inside grocery stores, and their numbers have been trending down lately.

I went to Madrid in early March and there were people everywhere in masks at both of the airports. There were many people in London already wearing them and I was one of the few people on my flight not wearing one as I got a bit freaked out. But I saw no one with them in Madrid outside of the airport and life seemed to be going on as usual. It wasn't until the cab driver told me on the way back to the airport 5 days later that everything was closing down the day after I left that anyone even mentioned it the whole time I was there, so it must've got out of control very fast.

One of the best things of all of this are the people who are coming together to show that they care. There are posters all over the city with phone numbers and email addresses of younger people who are willing to go shopping for the elderly. Hell, in my building alone, there is someone who put up a sign saying they're willing to go shopping.
I, myself, have gone grocery shopping for my neighbor. She's 80 and has COPD. She's literally the only person I've had regular contact with in the last (almost) month since this started.

Yep, that's what I'm reading. At the first onset of symptoms is probably the best time it should be administered. Now, for high risk patients I think it definitely should be given right away. It's a bit of a conundrum for others however, where it'd be impossible to tell whether early symptoms will escalate to a point of needing to be hospitalized.

Utter nonsense. Anyone in the US who's lived through a wildfire season here in America knows quite well how to use a mask.

(And yes, I remember when N95 masks were recommended for folks living in areas with lots of wildfires)
