Bunch more tests being done too, it's expected.

If that is true with regards to the study’s lack of concomitant use of HCQ with azithromycin, then I would say it is rather fortunate that both were not prescribed together, given -

My sister-in-law who had no history of cardiac problems was hospitalized for just less than 2 months with coronavirus and during the early course of her management she was given hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin together and she developed ventricular tachycardia which was reported to FAERS (https://www.fda.gov/drugs/surveillan...g-system-faers).

True, if by "most people" you're referring to hospitalists (M.D.s), what’s trending now on social media, given the high profile of a certain individual, is the value, or lack thereof, of prophylactic use of hydroxychloroquine for people who are not currently exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms, nor have ever previously diagnosed with COVID-19, something I would assume would be of more interest to laypersons here.

Any opinions, from anyone with regards to prophylactic prescribing?

Vitamin D is not a true prescription but isn't that the supplement they've been telling people to use in proper amounts?

Yes, and the study goes on to say:

Quote:
most patients had at least 1 cardiovascular comorbidity and were taking 2 or more QTc-prolonging medications, and 46 (51%) had a high-risk baseline cumulative Tisdale score of 11 or more points.
So yes, anyone with any sort of cardiovascular comorbidities should not be given Hydroxychloroquine. I don't know what your SIL's heath was like, but it is possible she may have had something underlying that could also put her at higher risk for developing heart issues from the drug combo. Azithromycin in general has warnings about arrhythmia, so it's not really surprising that the QTc would be extended when combined with another drug that can impact those with cardiovascular comorbidities.

Peru town mayor lies in coffin and plays dead after police catch him 'flouting lockdown to drink with friends'

Quote:
The mayor of a small town in Peru played dead when police snared him flouting lockdown rules to allegedly drink with friends.

Jaime Rolando Urbina Torres, mayor of Tantara, hid in a coffin and faked his own death when officers arrived to arrest him, police said.

A picture released by local police shows him lying in an open casket with a face mask on, while his friends are said to have hid in drawers.

He was detained for allegedly violating curfew and social distancing laws and was drunk when arrested.
The mayor has already faced a barrage of criticism from locals for being absent for breaking the rules and being absent from his own town during the lockdown.

Tantara entered lockdown 66 days ago along with the rest of Peru on orders of the central government.
According to local media, he was lambasted by officials for failing to open emergency quarantine shelters and introduce safety checks.

The South America continent has become the epicentre of the global pandemic with 2.1 million coronavirus cases.

Peru has seen 104,000 confirmed coronavirus cases and 3,024 deaths linked to the virus. Hundreds of Brits were left stranded in the country in the early stages of the crisis.

excellent health (in her 50s)
no history of cardiovascular disease, many normal ECGs during routine clinic visits over the years with her family practioner, with no evidence of cardiac EP abnormality
prior to her COVID-19 hospitalization, was taking no meds nor supplements

Single parents sometimes don't have time to make lunch, so they gave us the money we needed for school lunch.
Lazy is the complete opposite of what they were. Don't be an ass.

It appears to be safe and effective when given under a doctor's care.
Below is another quote from the article. The bold is in the article.

Quote:
They explained that they used hydroxychloroquine for this, but never azithromycin (an antibiotic for respiratory infections) due to the associated cardiac complications,” Ruiz said.
Also, personally I believe both sunshine and fresh air will be helpful, both physically and mentally.

A group of New Mexico businesses is now suing the governor and health secretary saying their health order has gone too far. The lawsuit organized by the Republican Party of New Mexico claims that Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham, New Mexico Secretary of Public Safety Mark Shea, and New Mexico Secretary of Health Kathyleen Kunkel abused powers by threatening and fining businesses under her public health order.

The lawsuit charges that the governor is illegally fining businesses $5,000 a day under the Public Health Emergency Response Act, something the state cannot do. The act states that $5,000 penalties can only be given to court-ordered isolation and quarantines of individuals and can’t be imposed by the executive branch of government.

“This is unconstitutional. Gov. Lujan Grisham doesn’t have the executive power to threaten and fine establishments under the law. Her actions are devastating our economy and killing locally owned businesses in our state,” said Republican Party of New Mexico Chairman Steve Pearce. “There’s been no common sense and no equity in the governor’s order, and innocent business owners are being threatened, felling the financial pain and losing their livelihoods.”

Plaintiffs in the lawsuit include K-Bob’s Steakhouse, Frontier Auto Inc., Monroe’s Restaurants, Body Sol Fitness, Kemp’s Investments, Colfax Tavern & Diner, and J.Jones Massage and individual parties. KRQE News 13 is working to talk to the businesses involved and to get a response from the governor’s office.

One of our churches had testing available today. They posted the pictures on their Facebook pages and was surprised to see soooo many people there. The line went around the block. I know they try to keep it under control by spacing people 6 feet apart, but still. It makes me fear getting a testing done because of the many people I could potentially come into contact with. And if you get infected by someone at that testing site, it probably will be too soon to show up positive on your test results. So not sure if it's really worth going out to get testing if you're always at home and don't have any symptoms.

Sorry, missed your question earlier.
If people are deprived, scientific evidence indicates there may be some merit to it –

And people shouldn’t be dismissive of that ^ study by way of thinking, well, that’s a geographical location that doesn’t get much sun, because there are residents of sunny states in places like our southwest who still have low Vit. D levels because they spend so much of their time indoors.

And Vit. D certainly has a superior safety profile in comparison to hydroxychloroquine.

I think I lucked out...
My Dr prescribed Vitamin D for me months ago, she said I was deficient in it.
I've been cooped up inside all winter.
Otherwise the Milk and Sun would have helped me not be.
Anyway, when its nice out (rarely) I sit outside for a few hours.
Here in WV it has rained nearly everyday since October...

I drink about a gallon of milk a week. Hopefully that is enough Vitamin D to fight off the virus.
