I find it really funny how last year, we had a handful of 90+ degree days here in NY and I was hearing that it was the hottest summer of record. I'm like, really?? When I was in college, I remember there were summer days where it was 90 degrees everyday for over a month, with a few days reaching 100. So not sure where we got the statistics from to deem Summer 2019 as the hottest summer on record...

It helps, especially outside. Indoors stores will have the A/C on which lowers the humidity and makes transmission easier than if they left it off. But still, humidity is higher indoors with A/C, than in winter with heater on.

That has nothing to do with the weather, and everything to do with our behavior. There hasn't been any dramatic drop eiither, cases have been steadily declining for over a month now. The weather/humidity has barely even been good enough to lead to any sort of decreases in transmission here, if such a correlation even exists.

haha, gee, this is such a shock

The Chinese CDC now says the coronavirus didn't jump to people at the Wuhan wet market — instead, it was the site of a super-spreader event

You're not still implying it came from a lab are you? If not, please elaborate on your sarcasm

We should instead invite Italians to maintain the maximum caution, maintain physical distancing, avoid large groups, to frequently wash their hands and to wear masks.”

just relaying the news as i and many others suggested that was likely NOT the origin and a rather convenient story.

without knowing where it came from, to also rule out the lab seems a bit naive. im just saying, be open minded since we dont have an answer.

A lab as the source has been completely ruled out numerous times, but okay.

please explain how that has been ruled out? because china said so? the only definitive answer regarding the lab was that it was not created in the lab.

Numerous scientists around the world have ruled it out, but let's be real, what would it take for you to believe it didn't come from a lab? The exact origin of it? Something probably impossible to truly track down. Even in the unlikely chance that it's found, I highly doubt you'll ever stop "having an open-mind' about it leaking from a lab. I regret even asking you, I already knew everything you'd say, and will say on the matter

Besides, contact tracing, as mentioned above, would only seems feasible if there are very few cases, and that scenario doesn't seem likely any time soon. I'm afraid there will continue to be plenty of cases in the U.S. until a vaccine comes along.
This is where I flat out disagree. If you get a contact tracer's call that you have been exposed and then just ignore it, then what chance do we have of getting through this if people just ignore the advice of experts? It's not an invasion of privacy for people to be contacted to be told they have been exposed to an infectious disease. This has been going on forever with STDs. I get calls almost every day from crooks, scam artists, call centers, and marketing agencies, plus political calls and other unwanted nonsense.

If a call comes in to tell me I may be infected and should take precautions so I don't infect others, that's one call I would appreciate, even though it's bringing bad news.

I'm sorry to hear anybody say they will just ignore the call just because they aren't showing symptoms.

i dont know where it came from, so i keep all options open. i havent read or heard anything to make me believe it definitely didnt come from the lab, so that still remains an option. dont understand why its so far fetched an idea that it was released from the lab, but like you said, we'll likely never know.
