you are getting upset over people sitting outside eating a meal

Exactly. People aren't understanding what I'm getting at. No, we shouldn't cower in fear and lock ourselves in our homes for years. But we should do so temporarily and if EVERYONE did their part, this virus would have been gone by now. But it's lingering forever because everyone has this attitude where they have to live their lives NOW and can't wait any longer.

Yes because there's a deadly virus lingering about out there. It's not safe.

I have to be frank, I'm a little disappointed how people are always contradicting my posts. I tend to witness a lot of stupidity out in the world today and I was hoping I can post here and share my frustration with like-minded people here, who I thought could relate to my frustration. But I guess not.

Hypothetically speaking, this is how I feel right now.... I could go outside and see a car run a red light and run over a pedestrian. Then I would post here upset about what I just witnessed and then people here will contradict me and say, "Well if someone is in a hurry and has an important place to get to, they should be allowed to run a red light. In that case, running over that pedestrian is justified. Get a grip, man!"

Yup and half the states in the U.S. are now in trouble...

I don't understand why the heated debate here. I'm not saying to serve a life sentence. I'm saying just wait a little bit longer until the pandemic is over and then dine out at all the restaurants you want to. Geez, what's the big deal about doing everything NOW? Nobody has patience??

You keep thinking the pandemic will be over soon. It certainly won’t be.

the problem is that you find a problem here where there isnt one.. people dining at a restaurant when they are allowed to do so is NOT a problem jsut becuase you think it is...

if waiters arent wearing masks, then that would be a problem worth talking about..or something like that ...youre creating problems based on your own personal opinions

again, you have yet to tell anyone when "a little bit longer" is. you seem a bit naive to think this is going to be over any time soon, meaning zero new infections.

12 to 15 months isn't "a little bit longer."

No one alive today has ever experienced S-I-P, all restaurants and bars closed, all movie theaters closed, all mass audience events cancelled, being asked to wear a mask and stay 6 feet away from others. These are radical changes to normal daily living. And they happened in a very short period of time. Some will adjust while others won't.

The length of the pandemic is determined by what we do.

60-70% herd immunity will require A LOT of deaths; a number that I don't even want to fathom. Sorry, I pick social distancing, wearing a mask, and most importantly.... be smart.

The only comparison we have is the 1918 Spanish Flu Pandemic. Microscopes weren't good enough to see that it was being caused by a virus. They thought it was caused by bacteria because that's all they could see. They had no antibiotics. They never developed a vaccine. They only way they survived was by everyone wearing masks and gloves and S-I-P when possible. The Pandemic ran for two years and killed 50 million people worldwide. The country didn't come to a screeching halt. Remember this was over 100 years ago.

What's funny is that when this pandemic began, I actually was stubborn and initially refused to realize the severity of this virus. But it was people here in this very thread that convinced me that this is a serious problem. And now that I've come to this realization, people are telling me to chill, get a grip and go out and live a normal life again even though the virus is still out there.

My god. You can go out while wearing a mask and taking extra precautions. You are critizing me and others who do that.

It won’t be over until there is a vaccine in mass production.

i wasnt suggesting that should be the direction to go but rather it might actually be quicker than waiting for a vaccine

since you wont answer how long you think this is all going to be over with lol

Think of it as the new normal. All you can do is trust that your local government is making the best informed decisions on reopenings and what the restrictions are in terms of masks and social distancing.

There will always be people on both sides of the extremes. The elderly, vulnerable and most fearful being extra cautious and only venturing out when they have to. And the young and restless who take unnecessary risks and don't always adhere to the guidelines.

I prefer to take the middle ground, not being fearful but still being very cautious and respectful of the rules set in place to protect us.

The new normal may be with us for years, so you may as well get used to living in it, and enjoying life's pleasures the best you can. You can't control what others do so no point in stressing over their behavior and just place your trust in the system (local Covid rules in place), that they know what they're doing and that their goal is to minimize the total damage from Covid and to the economy.
