Penton, my own doctor office has been closed for several months.
Most patients are seniors like me, so they want to protect them, good. If there is an emergency they will accommodate by taking different approaches. For some special health related issues we have to go to a different clinic, or hospital. A friend has to go to a Victoria specialised clinic for laser therapy (cancerous tumor). ...Five days a week and for seven weeks! Guess who's going to help ... that's right, me his friend, and along with his wife and daughter. Some data centers are 24 hours behind the latest update. Some data could even be days or weeks behind in some countries. John Hopkins University is the official COVID-19 database (for WHO and other health organisations), but they are behind some others. Here for example, I updated this post ... • https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...ostcount=13258 ☆ Your wife seems to be a very good partner. You're a lucky man. Also, the places that care for older patients without resources and adequate fundings. That's where the main outbreaks happened, and the stories are very sad. I know because my two sisters are workers close to those centers, plus my Mom (86) lives nearby one. Simply put it's a huge lack in the East, in both Quebec and in Ontario. The health care system for older people in those centers needs to be reformed. I could provide several articles (links) that go in depth about the issues, but it's preferable that I don't as it involves corruption, etc. It is truly sad because I feel the hurt in my own family. It is truly terrible, and people are afraid, plus afraid to speak up too. So I know how Americains feel in many States. Our own Penton here is a first hand contributor with close to home real stories, plus few other members too. It affects us all; our music and movie passions, our sleep, eating, ...everything. I'm originally from near Montreal, and Dad (RIP) was dealing extensively with New York businessmen (steel). Plus I have family relatives living in Florida, Texas, Arizona. Plus plus plus ... it's a small world, all interconnected between the Americas, and Europe and the rest of the world. |

So a little over a week ago I read in the newspaper that a busdriver in my town tested positive for covid which then shut down almost the entire bus system because 24 busdrivers had to go into quarantine. My mom recently had to take the bus several times due to surgery related circumstances to get to doctors. About a week ago she started to have a really bad cough. Since she took several of the buses that I mentioned, we decided she should call the doctor. He decided that she should get tested which she did. Waiting for the results took 48 hours and I can assure you that these were scary 48 hours. Fortunately the results came back negative and it turned out to be a harmless infection. What a great relief, obviously. My mom has diabetes, asthma and high blood pressure.
But this fall and upcoming winter many people will go through the same scary 48+ hours and many of them won't be as fortunate as we were. And I'm keeping them in my thoughts. I hope many will do so too and will behave accordingly. Behavior will determine how bad these next months will be. Today's numbers compared to last week's numbers lead me to believe that by the end of the week we'll have 25,000 to 30,000 cases, unless recently implemented restrictions start to show results. I think Merkel was right and the restrictions aren't tough enough which will make it difficult to avoid another lockdown. |

Occasionally in my job I have to go to some other cities.
Previously I went up to a couple and drove as obviously I didn't want to go anywhere near an airport. But for someone who really doesn't enjoy driving long distances it wasn't fun. I am now planning to go up to another city next week. But with the weather turning and now being unpredictable I really don't want to drive - it'd be 16 hours of driving to spend 2 days on site. So I think I'm going to bite the bullet and fly. I'll have a N95 mask on and hopefully won't be seated next to someone. I guess we'll see what happens. |

Guys what are your thoughts about people who are taking long distance flights during the Covid pandemic?
I read about one recent frightening story recently in where a large number of people were themselves infected or infected others with Covid-19 while on a 7 & a 1/2 hr international flight en route to Dublin Airport. It doesn't say what country the flight departed from when it flew to Dublin last summer. https://www.irishexaminer.com/news/arid-40070591.html There was 49 people onboard out of a maximum capacity of 283 seats filled on the flight. The remaining 234 seats on the plane were empty due to social distancing guidelines from the airline carrier. The 49 people heading back to Dublin had infected 59 other people around the country when it landed at the Airport in June. 11 of these 49 people were not notified to be tested by the HSE for Covid. 1 person had also officially refused to be tested for Covid while getting off the flight back in June. 25 people were infected with Covid-19 around the country as a result of the flight. One other person who travelled from Dublin before this flight in June had shared accomodation with 34 other people. Wow. All I can say is that reading about this stuff is horrendous to read. |

We just found out that a couple within our group of friends contracted it and supposedly gave it to their children and their parents (who take it very seriously due to their age) as well, who in turn passed it on to some of their elderly friends. The couple in question felt like it "wouldn't do much harm" to go to some dumb festival about 2 weeks ago. They're now feeling pretty sorry for themselves and those closest to them, though.
It's a damn shame that this ****ing disease doesn't just stay with those who ignore all the advice and warnings, and freely go frolicking around among other likeminded idiots. |

They say the ventilation systems in commercial airlines are not the worry. Depending on the environment and public health measures instituted, it’s all the in-betweens in the process of air travel that may increase your risk.

Is it hard to exercise @ home by yourself with YouTube as your gym instructor? Can people accommodate/adapt to a pandemic? Many can; the ones who cannot are the ones making it spread farther and faster. We're not used to live during a serious pandemic; it requires a new education and measures. Without following the guidelines of those measures it's everyone around who suffer the consequences. A pandemic is not fun, it's no picnic. And it's not about to get better soon ... |

dublin, you might want to look at medical journals on this: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7293495/ Transmission of COVID-19 virus by droplets and aerosols: A critical review on the unresolved dichotomy go to section 6.1 Airplane Cabin (though the whole thing is worth reading) https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7134995/ Transmission of infectious diseases during commercial air travel for a breakdown of airflow -- I believe Penton was referring to the HEPA filters, but that is different than airflow patterns built in to the aircraft. The flight in question in dublin's link is from a flight in summer 2020, well into the mask mandate on airlines. |

Which does nothing when you're sitting for 2hrs plus next to someone else where you're literally touching them shoulder to shoulder. Which is the case for any short haul flight in Canada which all use POS Q400 or Dash 8 type planes (cramped).
