MovieZyng will often use a BD-R case image or have the BD-R notice (sometimes they change the case but leave the notice), but I don't know if they're actually BD-R or not since I don't have them lol

MZ also stopped listing disc sizes so now people have to buy them and have a way to check the size themselves in order to update the database entry here.

USA Hallmark TV drama series

Drama series The Way Home's second season ended last Sunday night in the States (March 31st). Have read on the web since then that Hallmark have renewed the show for a third season, airing next year.

Don't know if there has been a schedule change, but I saw on EpGuides last night (the primetime US TV schedule grid on the website) that premiering tonight on Hallmark Movies and Mysteries is a new Hannah Swensen Mysteries TV film called One Bad Apple.

Any fans of When Calls the Heart? I was surprised to see Shout Factory handled the DVDs.

Maybe a Blu-ray will happen?

When Calls the Heart is one of the Hallmark series I've been meaning to try out, and I have on-and-off been checking out and trying to fathom out Shout's DVD releases of the series (have two episodes each been edited together into a TV film?). There is a spin-off series called When Hope Calls, but I'm not sure what that show's current status is (is it on a break or has it been cancelled?), or if it's had any physical media releases.

Have checked EpGuides, and it appears the new season (season 11) of When Calls the Heart starts this coming Sunday night on Hallmark (replacing The Way Home?).

When Calls the Heart is quite good with a strong following. You are correct that the 11th season airs this week. I am unsure about merged episodes. Perhaps you’re seeing the Christmas themed ones.

I haven’t watched When Hope Calls which was a spin-off. I’m only seeing the first season available on DVD. The show was canceled.

The only thing I know about When Calls the Heart is that Aunt Becky is (was?) on it. But if it has lasted 11 seasons (and counting, with a spinoff), it must be good - or at least popular.

I caught Blind Date Book Club while I was staying in a hotel.

Not bad. I like the concept.

I wouldn't mind a Blu-ray, but DVD-only wouldn't surprise me on this one (if it's ever released at all).

I've bought a few of their 6 DVD sets when I only wanted 3 because that's actually cheaper than streaming them lol.

Saw these at Walmart today:

Edit: I erroneously assumed they were Blu-rays, but they might be DVDs.

I caught this Hallmark TV movie on Peacock the other day. Not sure if it's still there...

Branching Out (2024)

Take two appealing TV actors (Sarah Drew from Grey's Anatomy and Juan Pablo Di Pace from Fuller House and A.D. The Bible Continues), come up with a catchy concept (a precocious little girl with an advanced vocabulary - played by Cora Bella, whose performance sparkles with sweetness - wants to find her biological father for a family tree project at school), and you have a winning formula.

The mention of "IVF" and "sp*rm donor" strongly signals that we're no longer in Candace Cameron Bure's "traditional" - and, let's face it, stale - version of Hallmark. She's gone for that reason, and the network has evolved boldly in her absence.

Branching Out breaks a bit from the usual Hallmark paint-by-numbers blueprint and delivers an easygoing charmer.

Groundswell has been on my watch list (it's shown every so often on Movies 24). Have also heard of The Dancing Detective: A Deadly Tango (might see it when it's eventually shown on UK TV). The Color of Rain I'd be interested in seeing (Warren Christie, who I remember from a recurring guest star role on Chicago Fire (he played a friend of Severide's) stars in it), as well as Winter in Vail.

Thanks for mentioning this. I like the two leads, and it's currently streaming on the Cock.

I ended up watching this on Peacock last night:

The Color of Rain (2014)

Hallmark stalwarts Lacey Chabert and Warren Christie star in an absolute tearjerker about two grieving widowers. After losing their spouses to cancer, Gina and Michael (Chabert and Christie) suddenly become single parents with very young children to raise. They naturally turn to each other for support during the worst time in their lives. The two leads deliver credible and heartfelt performances. The Color of Rain is an interesting title, but both the movie and its meaning are best left for you to discover for yourself. The tears formed quickly in the back of my throat and burned inside my ears.

I believe this is the same set as the DVD I posted above. It's currently $29.99 on both iTunes and VUDU. As of now, it has never been on sale. When the price does eventually drop, I'll likely grab it.

USA Signed, Sealed, Delivered (new TV film)

Had in my head there was a North America discussion thread for the Hallmark Blu-ray release of Signed, Sealed, Delivered's season that followed the first TV film (knew there was one for the Good Witch Blu-ray set), but after doing a thread search I couldn't find a thread.

Read earlier this year that two new Signed, Sealed, Delivered TV films were in the works, one to premiere on Hallmark this year and the other to premiere next year. When visiting EpGuides earlier this week, I saw in one of the US TV primetime grids that the first of these two new TV films (called "A Tale of Three Letters") is premiering on Hallmark Movies and Mysteries tomorrow night (Friday, July 12th).

I caught this on Peacock last night. Hopefully it eventually gets a Blu-ray and/or DVD release.

The Magic of Lemon Drops (2024)

The Magic of Lemon Drops veers from the usual Hallmark formula, and it's all the better for it.

Lolly (Lyndsy Fonseca) regrets the way her life has turned out. Her aunt (Mariam Bernstein) offers her magical lemon drops - yes! - that allow her to see what would have happened if she had taken a different fork in the road during key moments.

There are four drops. The first three allow her to experience an alternate day. The fourth, if she chooses to take it, permanently and irreversibly transports her to the life she prefers.
  • Lemon Drop 1: Owning her own restaurant instead of toiling in the family business - where her stubborn father (John B. Lowe) doesn't give her the freedom to make any changes.
  • Lemon Drop 2: Getting to see her late mom (Henriette Ivanans) again.
  • Lemon Drop 3: Staying together with her boyfriend (Ian Harding) instead of initiating a bad breakup she has regretted ever since.
DaBargainHunta's Decree: The Magic of Lemon Drops will speak to anyone who has ever lost a loved one or lives with regrets. Ironically, aside from the fantasy premise, this is one of the more realistic and grounded Hallmark movies.

USA Hallmark murder mystery TV films

Wasn't on here late last week, so I wasn't able to post about this new Hallmark murder mystery TV film in time (but I would assume it's available on Catch-up TV in the States). Last Friday night (August 23rd), Nelly Knows Mysteries: A Fatal Engagement premiered on Hallmark Movies and Mysteries.
