Sounds more like the Sony implementation than not, i.e. more of the processing strain is placed on the player than the TV.

Agreed. I was expecting them to use that same profile. Although right now the Xbox implementation is only for streaming, I'm assuming this is an indication that they will implement Dolby Vision for gaming down the line as well, hence the need for an entirely new profile.

Hey, I worked with Cougar; I was the DP on his recent Wesley Snipes action outing ARMED RESPONSE. May not have made it onto anyone's radar, lol... but it was good fun. And he's a nice guy.

There have been misconceptions with every tech development. Lossless audio brand A vs lossless audio brand B, widescreen vs fullscreen, etc. The fact that people get HDR so wrong is truly unsurprising. Even less so becauss there’s no real standard and every television displays it differently.
