Occupying a corner of Stage 5, Colorfront had their new Colorfront Engine Film Mode software running in AJA Video Systems’ FS-HDR real time Converter/Frame Synchronizer.
“This is the first time we have shown our Colorfront Engine Film Mode, in this case an implementation licensed to AJA Video Systems for their FS-HDR real time converter and frame synchronizer.” William Feightner, Colorfront’s CTO told me. “With the same plug-in made available to a post system like Blackmagic Design’s Resolve, that means whatever you see on set will be the same imagery recreated in dailies and in the files delivered to post.”

AJA's FS-HDR and the Colorfront Engine can simplify real time HDR/WCG transformations
For the film world, it all has to do with establishing a Hero look for your photography and keeping it consistent throughout the production chain.
Despite the hubbub filling the sound stage, I noticed Feightner was using the term “look”, rather than “LUT” or Look Up Table to specify the desired visual parameters.

“These ‘looks’ are what set us apart,” he explained. “The problem with a LUT is it has to do three things: it has to couple to whatever imaging flavor is coming in, it has to couple to whatever flavor capabilities it is feeding, like a monitor, and then in the middle it has to do the actual color transform. All of these are locked together, so you are only dealing with one flavor of input and one monitor.”

It turns out his use of the “look” concept is far more complex.
“If you have a show set for Rec. 709, it won’t work for HDR or Digital Cinema,” he explained. “What we are offering with our Colorfront Engine, on the other hand, is a procedural module. All. It takes is a simple text file that will take that Hero image from dailies through to final deliverable so that everyone sees the same manifestation of the images at every step. Instead of being a fixed LUT that nobody can iterate, with our software you only need to change the parameters to match the imagery at each subsequent step’s input and output requirement.”

Perhaps sour grapes for not being considered as part of the cast for Top Gun: Maverick, or jealous as to who/what’s #1? https://letterboxd.com/spiderrider/l...films-of-2018/

It's my favorite Disney animated movie about my country...Kanada. ...The first one, so this one is on my calendar as the next event of this century, bigger than the biggest black hole in the universe and even bigger than Avatar 3D.

Nope, I was thinking of Norway when I saw it, and yep that is what it is based upon.

After the pleasant surprise of the Alita DV Blu-ray, hopefully this is a possibility for Frozen 2.

Norwalk and Kanada are sisters. That are both snow/kross country skiing/skidoo/ice/Nordik/igloo countries. Frozen suits us both just fine.
But faks are faks, and the heart is in the movies, no matter where they are made and what's about.

Due to the fact that I look at screen(s) with digital images all day long, most every day, put me on a bike in your country be it in the Canadian Rockies –

When I have more time, I’ll do a post listing my recommended choices of best over the counter eye drops to moisten those peepers with artificial tears. Lubricated eyes not only help you feel more comfortable but also keep you seeing the best you can (vis-à-vis tear film) during prolonged daily viewing and avoid dry eye.

P.S.
I gave the Vizio in the above photo to one of my nephews years ago.
