and I share that sentiment, plus, some of my fondest memories from childhood are those of simply kicking a cheap soccer ball around in our backyard with my father after he’d returned home from work.

Key point though for those not sharing similar interest, is that no matter what the sport……for one thing, on bright sunny days with SDR delivery, we just don’t get what we could either due to bleaching on one side of the field/park….. https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...y#post12202983

or loss of shadow detail on the other side….

non-cinematic HDR imagery will significantly drive the HDR ecosystem, which in turn will have a positive effect upon bringing forth more HDR graded motion pictures and thusly more Ultra HD Blu-ray content. The opening ceremony of the Rio Olympics is a nice step in bringing awareness to the format.

And disregarding sport and stadiums on a bright sunny day, HDR brings an added visual value to other events as exemplified by anyone who saw the Rio Carnival demo clip (graded in PQ) at a past CES or those fortunate enough to have seen the HDR/SDR simulcast test imagery of a music concert from May’n (http://mayn.jp/) (from last year)....

P.S.
Back from a day at the beach , in a few moments sitting down to watch an event in Milano where I hear Alicia Keys will be singing…..in SDR.
Alas, perhaps someday we’ll get it in 4K HDR Atmos.

Nice ad, but I'll never get used to calling it "soccer", not ever ever ever. It's football, baby.

Q&A panel session after the presentation of Café Society next Saturday and ask Vittorio if he thinks the HDR version of CS looks better than the SDR version….and why? You may find that reveal more exciting as the blogger/writer types have yet to report even on its existence.

I can't seem to find confirmation but the new American Cinematographer article on Love & Friendship states the DCP is 4K, but online some note it's only 2K.

Science post: little known/realized color science observation is that with HMI lighting (HMI and tungsten lighting for movie sets are commonly discussed in American Cinematographer articles, like that referenced by Dubstar for Love & Friendship), anyway in HDR, the bluish look with HMI lighting on a movie set is distinctly more blue (and truer to what the crew actually sees with their own eyes) than when viewed on a SDR monitor.

actually the AFI Silver - which has a very competent and resourceful Facebook/twitter folk confirmed that the files denote it as being 2K - regardless the image in 2K is quite astounding and beautiful. As seeing it a second time, I really took the time this go round to look at the costuming, lighting, cinematography and music score - the dialogue is paramount but every other aspect compliment each other to great effect.

There have been productions which made a separate 4K DCP file as well as a 2K DCP file, but I don’t think a movie like Love & Friendship fits that practice profile, so if I were forced to bet on it I would go with the AFI Silver info as being all there is for theater operators.

The upcoming HPA Tech Retreat UK in July would have done well to acquire him as a speaker for how we perceive brightness/colorfulness, e.g. the Advanced Imaging Sub Committee of the American Society of Cinematographers Technology Committee has referenced his fine work to aid in past projects. Ah well, perhaps at a future UK retreat.

Meanwhile, today in Geneva…..for a scientist being more involved in stereo depth perception rather than color, light adaptation and the human temporal response, scrolling down... good job Jenny….https://tech.ebu.ch/events/hdr2016

Knowing you prefer your flesh tones natural and accurate, you can adjust that clap a little louder as the color science package will be by Light Iron, not RED.

Lensers checking it out at the Club, prior to Cine Gear…..

Lionsgate don't mind their 4K finishes though, e.g. EX3, Last Witch Hunter, 3 out of the 4 Hunger Games movies. Speaking of which, where's mah UHD hunger games boxset??? Catching Fire will look the balls in UHD...dat IMAX.
