addendum to ^ , it’s no secret that Roger is a longtime proponent of Arri cameras (and duly merited), but to give equal face time to other manufacturers offerings, the Sony VENICE has been actively making the rounds around the world/country and next up, Brooklyn….
https://www.abelcine.com/learn/calen...th-sony-venice Note the BoG on HDR in the secondary training room. To fellow Insider Robert Zohn and/or other members - if you’re around, might be fun and interesting to check it out. |

At CAMERIMAGE 2017 (although I’ve been posting about the festival for years, be it in Club Penton or the 4K Movies Releases thread, here is some background for those unfamiliar – “Camerimage has become so established that, on the week of Nov. 11, any name cinematographer who isn't working is likely to be found in Bydgoszcz, Poland”- http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/beh...season-1031391 , and yes, we even have some native Polish membership
![]() a tip of the hat to Arri for providing this workshop, a how-to on HDR/WCG – https://camerimage.pl/en/wydarzenie/...ji-obrazu-hdr/ , which I think will fill the seating capacity. |

Widescreen Review has an excellent interview with Technicolor colorist Peter Doyle about HDR. Here's Technicolor's post about it. And here's a direct link to the PDF.

In-house Dolby Vision mastering capability filtering down to even the smaller post houses, e.g. demo this evening in Silver Spring, MD. - https://otthouse.splashthat.com/?em=537 (just off the beltway for locals).
As an aside, on a personal note, further south in the District, good to see Georgetown win the men’s Big East soccer championship in overtime and get an automatic berth to the NCAA tournament…… https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/...=.9844f9f26ee0 |

![]() To providing all sorts of deliverables, e.g. ![]() I’m more interested if the prolific marketeers/bloggers that post nearly hour by hour on the internet about Ultra HD 4K and HDR, especially using tweeter as a platform to induce viral replication with retweets by others are actually somehow affiliated with some UHD/HDR related companies or organizations vis-ŕ-vis either the exchange of real money or undisclosed, accepted perks for their hype services. Yes, unbeknownst to many is that for example just for the short film Meridian, there are three distinct ‘home media’ deliverables transcoded from the same master file encoded and compressed at varying luminances and bit rates to Netflix customers and testing organizations…..one with the specs I posted months ago, the one having the specs zmarty posted just recently for his YouTube channel and yet another.
