TBH it just looks to me like the second TV is being viewed a bit off-axis so that's why it looks slightly more washed out.

I know I like to take photographs of my HDR to SDR comparisons to prove my points but a pic of static HDR vs dynamic HDR in some brightly lit display booth is always going to be on a hiding to nothing. They might as well have brought in a sketch artist to render an impression for all the usefulness of that photo.

looking at the sound bars (and the oled symbol in the lower right hand corner of the tv), they are oled tvs. ( but nice try with the ole lcd wash out cop out).even if wasn't (which it is), its not THAT far off angle that itll wash out.

There are a few observations. There are some yellow spots on the static frame for some reason. On the static if you look dead center just to the right of the flag there is a white spot. To the right is an object. On the dynamic there is no yellow or white dots. The object is much clearer and looks like a blimp to me. After a few minutes to adjust, I like the dynamic colors the best.

Okay okay, calm down. I didn't peer as steadfastly into the nooks and crannies of the frame like some of y'all have done. I absolutely hate this smilie but Imma use it anyway

Though you've gotta admit it's kinda funny that Technicolour are demoing dynamic HDR10+ on what look like LG TVs when LG have said that they're not going to adopt HDR10+. Regardless of what screen type it is I still say that photos of HDR vs HDR in such conditions are nigh on useless

[edit] Oh, it's just the Technicolour "dynamic" version, not HDR10+. Is that just the LG TV running its "dynamic metadata" guesswork mode then?

Wink Bad news for Samsung

How many studios also sell consumer electronics? Sony, correct? What incentive does a studio have to spend more money to produce a disc with both? It has to take extra time to produce a combo DoVi/HDR10+ disc. Time is money. They will not sell one more disc that if it contained DoVi/HDR10 or HDR10/HDR10+. If you like the movie most consumers will just enjoy it in HDR10 if it is not in their preferred format, just like today. Just stating why I don't get this.

Who wins if there is a DoVi/HDR10+ disc. Not Samsung. There are announced plans for DoVi/HDR10+ players. Most assuredly DoVi/HDR10+ Displays will follow. Then consumers can directly compare a DoVi encode against a HDR10+ encode. Game Over. The superiority of the Dolby Vision encode will be there for all to see.

[Show spoiler]Since today’s players automatically send the stream in the highest format that the display can use, I can just imagine DoVi/HDR10+ inside the player.

One year anniversary look back….https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...t#post13138061

Nostalgic elucidating –
Back in the days when engineers were hammering out the spec for Ultra HD Blu-ray, with the assumption that given time, some consumer electronics companies would use 12-bit HEVC decoders whereas others, 10-bit decoders, a well known company proposed an option (to avoid banding) by changing a 10-bit HDR signal into a 12-bit HDR signal by adding a 3-bit layer, which would also replace the dithered bit -

You are badly misreading the situation.

Dolby has essentially already surrendered:
http://www.techradar.com/news/dolby-...u-to-have-both

If Dolby was even mildly confident about their position why would they already be talking about "coexisting" with hdr10+ which is barely even available yet?

Reality is once the hdr10+ train gets a rolling it sounds like it will be much less costly for content providers. While there will be a transition period hdr10+ will likely be the dominant format in the long run. "Coexisting" is likely the best case scenario for DV.

The color appears white but the fur color is actually transparent and it appears white because it reflects light during the daylight but its skin is black.

Yeeaaah.
I'll file this where the "Samsung TVs will convert DV into HDR10+" statement is kept.

Dolby is speaking in a position of reality and strength. They can afford to be magnanimous. Dolby knows that HDR10+ is here to stay. It is easy to produce, and streamers like Amazon will use it for their own content. But Netfix is a big DoVi supporter so even Streamers recognize quality.

The superior content will be used primarily by Hollywood for their movies.

Samsung knows it’s HDR10+ is inferior. I have never seen Samsung, even once, mention the name Dolby Vision.

The technical gap will only grow wider in the coming years.
