If you like Sony players, look for the X800M2 for a sale price of $250 (or less). It’s a quality player, but Dolby Vision has to be turned on and off manually (don’t ask, none of us understand why they refuse to have auto switching.)
It will also play more audio formats than the Panasonic players, if that is a requirement for you. Otherwise, the Panasonic UB820 is $499 most of the time but has had some sales for less. That’s much further from your $200 target price. ...this is the way. ![]() Last edited by gkolb; 12-12-2020 at 04:44 AM. Reason: added phrase |

fear not, THE COLORIST MIXER graphic at the top ^ is intentional and does not indicate that you have any type, as of yet, unrecognized metamorphopsia. To test for the later, see if the lines on this grid at the beginning of the following YouTube appears wavy or distorted rather than straight, for which it should –

And heads-up to Aby (of Dolby Labs), the episode in The Surgeon’s Cut featuring Dr. Devi Shetty (https://peerspectrum.com/2019/05/07/...r-devi-shetty/) is not to be missed either.

No need to worry, that's the exact reason it's being implemented. Whether stuff like Game of Thrones, Westworld, Chernobyl and His Dark Materials, where 4K masters already exist and are available elsewhere will be upgraded is another matter.
Edit: I swear every time I don't quote the previous message because I'm directly repling to the most recent it decides to stick me at the top of a new page. |
