Meanwhile the HDR quality in Blade Runner 2049 looks stunning, jaws ejaculating.

If you’re an early adopter in this hobby you pays your money, you takes your chances. Sorry Geoff, but you should know that by now. Things could be far worse, one could wake up with a non-traumatic retinal detachment and then what are some going to do – whine and whine that God was unfair to them?

Be patient. Ultimately, in due course, if people can prove any real damages other than a delay in expectations, there is always recourse, e.g. others have done so, here’s a template of a past incident -

What's God go to do with this? As I said, all people want is some clarity which shouldn't be too hard to come by because this hasn't been smote down upon us by a magical sky fairy who doesn't answer back, instead it's from two respected companies whose continued silence speaks the proverbial volumes.

Heck, I'm not sore that it's not working right this second on a personal level because the update wasn't pushed to the European sets anyway. I just find it frustrating that Dolby and Sony managed to botch this as glaringly as they have done, not that hiccups weren't to be expected but for such a fundamental issue to have arisen - given that it's already been worked on for a full calendar year since announcement, and probably before that - with no-one catching it is Keystone Cops levels of incompetency. Sure, the sun will still rise tomorrow and there are PLENTY of things for us to be truly concerned about in the real world but I don't live in the real world, I live on here

I'm reminded of this post of mine from the "when will it be updated?" thread. I knew that issues were bound to occur - no-one gets away clean, not in this business - but because my jokey second paragraph has apparently come to pass THAT'S what's grinding my gears. If I could see it coming from a mile away, why couldn't these two tech giants do the same?

Makes me laugh to think of Sony using an OPPO or LG as the player when testing the TVs, though. I mean they'll likely have a means of playing back a DV signal using whatever black box of goodies they get from Dolby but even so, they can't let it go out to the public without testing it using consumer playback hardware...or can they?

Reference to powers beyond one's control when desiring something. When your facing a tough crowd you try to make the best with what you can offer.

But like I said, God don't often answer back unless you're, like, that Moses dude. Sony and Dolby don't have to be quite so reticent because, as Penton intoned, we're not talking about serious problems here after all.

Poldark is a series of novels about a Cornish hunk who gets up to all sorts of mischief, it was adapted for British TV in the '70s and caused a generation of admirers to swoon and has recently been re-adapted for TV with Aidan Turner in the title role, causing a whole new generation of admirers to swoon. I can't imagine what they see in him:

Do LCDs discard/crush details in the blacks below their calibrated black level in nits (on discs mastered to 0 nits)? Are they tone mapped by the display?

How does this work with a relative luminance system like SDR? How do OLEDs with their true blacks handle SDR vs. a good LCD, both calibrated to 120 nits peak brightness?

If everything goes to plan, some of my videos will be shown in HDR10+ on a satellite channel in early February. In terms of color grading nothing changes for me, they add the HDR10+ dynamic stuff during the final encoding process. I still deliver in PQ as usual.

Appears to be an instinctive trait of our species to admire an intact, non-adipose laden rectus abdominis as exemplified at the last CES…. https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...s#post14579818

So far, January highlights appear to include Geoff having surged ahead in numbers, Heat is back in the penalty box….maybe he’ll do a short shift on the ice once the HDR10+ Alliance has an internet site up and actively running (http://www.hdr10plus.org/).

And now he had to bump his questions for a second time.

we simply abstain.

It should be interesting to assess the picture quality of your PQ videos and your same HDR10+ videos.
