Here’s another scene (edit: being critiqued by some colorists) as a helpful hint….

Geez, nobody recognize it yet?
Does Eastkhan still post on this forum, I’d think he’d know.

I believe this is a scene from Hostiles.

I recognize one of the pine trees.

Correct and impressive visual acuity.
Can you see the slight chaffing of the bark from the chain?

As it would eliminate the need for both a reference and client monitor, e.g. -

and with that, the inherent calibration necessity involved with perceptual color image matching both (dang humans with their observer variability), some folks at post shops are already pining for a large (55 - 65”) at least 2000 nit 4K/UHD HDR OLED reference monitor for their mastering suites,

perhaps, someday.

Re: Cinema Screens
Breaking news from over 1 week ago - https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...y#post14973310
in the ^ spoiler, namely, https://www.roundabout.com/onyx-cinema-screen/ now publicizing that unique asset.

Re: Consumer Screens
Who also b.t.w., on a non-EclairColor note and not really advertised, is that one of Roundabout’s color experienced employees graciously agreed to work with the American Society of Cinematographers SSIMWave HDR Evaluation Working Group in helping to determine how well the original creative intent of cinematographers and colorists is preserved in the delivery of HDR and WCG material to consumer devices.

Guilty as charged (on both counts) and now back and tired out from our Sunday ride, but nevertheless, a few contributions to add to this thread’s respectful tally of 80,000+ views for this month (April) before we head into the month of May.

This 1969 Peanuts comic strip by Schulz -

may have appeared to adult readers as being totally ridiculous at the time and granted, is quite hyperbolic, but given the fact that decades later researchers showed that the pupil’s aperture is modulated not solely by the physical light intensity of a target region but also by the perceived intensity of the region (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3277565/), in retrospect, the comic strip now appears to be somewhat insightful.

Default Ender's Game | HDR

I have this regular SDR 1080p Blu-ray in my movie library.
I remember the picture being slick, clean, clear, very nice, jumping @ you almost 3-dimensionally...decor sets, CGI effects, colors, depth and all.

I've never upgraded this BR title to the 4K HDR version. One because it's not my favorite flick of all time, and two because I'm not sure if the picture is truly an upgrade along with the 3D Atmos audio.

Interestingly, LG developed the Auto Calibration application with SpectraCAL for the 2018 OLED displays to appeal to the Hollywood Post Production market. The ability to write and access directly to the built-in LUT and at 36,000 points brings Hollywood image performance to our homes.

Thankfully, LG decided to included CalMAN's autocal access to the consumer market!
