I can’t remember the name of the new theater project, but I’ll ask next weekend…I think its a renovation of some old building or something that actually used to be a cinema back in the ‘60s or 70’s. Maybe you even went there when you were a young whipper snapper.

I already looked it up on the interwebs, no need to go digging further: http://www.croydonguardian.co.uk/new...year_campaign/

I didn't exist in the 60s or 70s though so visiting it would've been kinda difficult.

[QUOTE=Geoff D;15045773]Crystal Palace the area (where the new cinema has been proposed) isn't the same place as where Crystal Palace the football club are situated, much to the chagrin of travelling fans who alight at CP train station (when Norwood Junction or Selhurst would be much better bets).

not HDR related per se, but heads-up to any unaware lurking coexistent/topic Italian soccer fans to this recent ongoing discussion on another thread….https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...l#post15042967

although the guys here ^ disagree with each other at times, their knowledge is often based on firsthand experience and years of dedication.

Where’s LordoftheRings with his YouTube contributions for this week? Those tunes of yours keep me rolling.

Lordo, a flashback from nearly a year ago…..https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...s#post13632805

Flash forward to today at Long Beach, a pic of the motorsickles geared-up for one of the best motocam teams in the business for this year’s Amgen tour -

Although not in HDR (but someday, eventually, will be), I think even for Vancouverites living in the midst of their northern natural beauty, the Amgen Tour of California is still worth a watch just for the majestic scenery of my state, starts tomorrow -

On the women’s side (starts May 17th), I’m rooting for Coryn.

That’s ^ fun stuff, but on a more serious note with regards to vision safety and accuracy -

Public Service Announcement:
In the interest of protecting Blu-ray.com readers’ vision and health, take note that this online vision test is an unapproved technology….. https://www.opternative.com/?code=5d...SAAEgIv-PD_BwE .

Among other issues with it, the technology lacks independent clinical trials; the company commissioned trial for the Opternative app-based test was not peer-reviewed, lasted only 4 months, and was limited to 30 people.

The Opternative online test is offered to people outside the scope of the clinical trial, including those ages 40-55 and those with higher refractive errors. The FDA has not reviewed the safety or accuracy of the Opternative technology or claims of accuracy.

For locals, reminder to last April’s cutting edge heads-up – https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...g#post15006427 as there are still tickets available for this Thursday.

For those who can’t make the trip across the pond to West Hollywood and would still like to see new grading tools specifically designed for HDR, there is a free open house happening on Tuesday by FilmLight in London here - https://www.eventbrite.com/e/london-...on-45678531718

Another problem is there are test done which cannot be done via a computer such as eye pressure.

Yes , definitely, and the serious consequential factor related to increased intraocular pressure is that it is asymptomatic....

and without having identified it thru a proper comprehensive vision exam, persistent elevation over time kills cells in your retina which are gone forever (unless you’re enrolled in some special stem cell clinical trial, for example for retinitis pigmentosa). Because of its complexity and the true potential for irreversible vision loss, the management of glaucoma is an art. To a lesser extent, so is HDR grading…. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yOBDBmEJ6C4#t=5m55s

Are you kidding? I've been taking my own drinks to cinemas for years, same with snacks too, if any. Some Haribo Sour Mix rather than popcorn.

The ABC in Catford was my regular cinema growing up. Used to frequent it most weeks! I used to work at the Blockbuster Video (formerly known as 'Titles') just down the road aways.

I wonder if that huge black cat is still there, overlooking the market entrance?
