Samsung started putting HDR10+ on their sets in 2017 so 2019 is the critical year to see the progress of HDR10+ adoption. As hardware (and AI) becomes increasingly powerful I still believe a more than acceptable solution is for each HDR frame to be analyzed adjusted to the characteristics of the display.

As for AR, I feel it needs smart glasses before it can be utilised to its full advantage. AR on a smartphone or tablet, in my opinion, is simply too limiting. For me, apps will only really begin to reach their potential if images are in front of you and gesture motions are integrated somehow, AR on a phone just doesn’t excite me. As for VR, I can’t speak highly enough of this tech. The potential is mind blowing to me, everything from games to productivity. Like I say, it needs a resolution bump and wireless headsets but once that is the case, I sincerely hope it can move beyond niche and into the mainstream. Sport experiences like the BBC’s efforts are crucial to achieving this aim I feel. As well as the potential for concerts, theatre etc.. Gaming wise, there are some very talented people producing unique gaming experiences like Statik, Moss, Superhot etc.. that make VR by far the best way to experience those games. Of course, more headsets need to be sold otherwise the risk is obviously great for many studios in my opinion. In my opinion, VR needs to be promoted far far more than it is at present. Overall, I absolutely love the tech and I hope beyond hope we get a 2nd generation. ![]() Last edited by Steedeel; 06-17-2018 at 01:53 PM. |

Weren't you like super worried about people watching everything on their smart watches in years to come? How is this all that different in terms of the effect it might have on the collective viewing experience as a whole? Not trying to be a smartass, just wondering.

filmed some in Stockholm and despite the Director’s personal tagline (https://twitter.com/fedalvar), question is, will ‘Spider’s Web’ be as riveting as ‘with the Dragon Tatoo’ was?

^ -> I’ll also reveal that since photosensitive epilepsy and Incredibes 2 was in the news today - https://www.abcactionnews.com/news/i...ilepsy-warning and this is more along the lines of public service, at the last ITU meeting, the video study group (chaired by Scott from Dolby) decided on a revision plan to change/clarify some of the statements in Rec. ITU-R BT.1702 - https://www.itu.int/dms_pubrec/itu-r...2-I!!PDF-E.pdf |
