Here's to that showing up in at least the Z9F (and OLED).
Has anyone heard one way or the other on this chip for the 2019 top-end Sony's?

Well Sony unveiled the Z9D in September 2016 so it'd fit nicely with its 2nd anniversary I guess, not to mention coming before Black Friday and the holiday season (even though it's guaranteed to be very pricey). But if it's not ready it's not ready, if it's an 8K display the market is even narrower considering people have barely just jumped on 4K. I'm confident the Z9D successor will be good regardless.

Sony engineers are probably sweating themselves trying to top what has been called "the best LCD TV ever made". Heck, even the larger variants of the Z9D - like the 100" version - saw improvements.

That will give you the best option until such time as the receiver is replaced with a model supporting Dolby Vision (low and high latency), HLG, etc.
Thanks again, FF. Followed those steps, popped in Dunkirk 4k, my DTS HD-MA notification lit up. Finally, all is right in the world.

They've had 2 years to work on improvements, and the X1 Ultimate is very impressive indeed, so I'd say they're probably on the right track. The main thing I'm actually interested in seeing is whether they're able to improve upon their already excellent local dimming tech.

Is this cable ideal for a 4k player and TV?:

Adding more zones will probably do the trick I guess. I'm hoping for a higher peak brightness also. Somehow I have a feeling it's going to be 8K...

It should be, it says 18gbs.
But, doesn’t have “Premium Certified”.

Search for Monoprice Premium Certified HDMI or Bluejeans Premium Certified HDMI.
They should both have a cable or cables in your price range.

Has Samsung gone mad? Holding a contest among employees for finding the worst burn in case in competition's OLED TV. Winner will be awarded in a gift card worth one million KRW and every participants will be awarded Starbucks gift cards lol

Samsung behavior is that of a politician. A desperate one at that.

Penton Man, have you ever seen a Dolby Pulsar monitor in action (they all have 6500 zones in assuming?) curious how the black levels were on it.

Samsung 4K HDR QLED TVs are great, LG 4K OLED Dolby Vision TVs are just better overall for dark cinema rooms.

There are millions more videos like those from professionals, and some of them prefer Sony, OLED...and LED too.

Two three years from now it will be interesting to see how those TVs above fare with picture disintegration. And who will be number one...Panasonic HDR OLED?

Default Analysts: Ultra HD Blu-ray Player Sales Continue To Advance In 2018

https://hdguru.com/analysts-ultra-hd...vance-in-2018/
Quote:
Stephen Baker, technology business analyst for the Port Washington, N.Y.-based NPD Group, said that so far Ultra HD Blu-ray player sales increased by more than 150% over 2017 and the revenue is up 61%. The {Average Selling Price] ASP is $165 this year compared to $272 for the first 5 months of 2017.”
Quote:
Other forecasts have shown global Blu-ray player shipments of all resolution formats decreasing from 72.1 million in 2017 to 68 million in 2023. Unit shipments for the global Blu-ray media market are expected to decrease from 595 million in 2017 to 516 million in 2023. Despite this decline, the 4K UHD segment continues in growth mode and will be a key driver in extending the life of the physical Blu-ray disc business, even as the popularily of 4K over-the-top (OTT) streaming grows.

Default Disney Wins: Comcast Says It Ends Pursuit Of Fox Assets

Quote:
After months of jockeying with its persistently better-positioned rival Disney, Comcast Corp. (the cable company and corporate parent of NBCUniversal) has officially ended its pursuit of 21st Century Fox's entertainment assets and will instead focus on its offer for Sky.
No link provided to protect the innocent.

Edit: I did not realize that this news is posted and discussed for a few days in this thread: Disney to acquire 21st Century Fox
I will leave this post up for those who live a sheltered life like I do.

BD100 with its bit rate and storage capacity, should be the defacto , UHD BluRay HDR/DV spec. So why isn't it?

Less image compression, better image information detail, and better HDR detail.
