An article from Trusted Reviews came out today with some news about HLG. At the moment only Samsung is talking about firmware updates though Sony did hint that they would say more about HLG after HDMI 2.1 has been officially announced.

![]() A fresher acronym for this forum which I don’t think I’ve specifically used in a post as of yet, but has been making the rounds in developer groups and presentations by those truly knowledgeable about investigating such things as HLG and PQ is -> DMCVT |

Heck Richard, at this point, I think most folks would be happy with an unofficial reliable leak from the HDMI forum as to the announcement. I believe you hoped for October HDMI news, which has since passed, are you hearing anything solid as to a next expectant date from that organization?

Indeed. If no-one in here is able to squeeze some juice on HDMI 2.1 then that's really saying something as to how it's been locked down. I just hope that doesn't mean they haven't been doing anything at all on it, but that's just me being the eternal pessimist.

Watched Star Trek Beyond last night in 4K HDR but it seemed a bit dark to me. Had to turn the backlight all the way up to 100. Recently downloaded the HDR update for my TV but I'm not sure if I watched my other 4K movies in HDR and they were alright on the brightness levels. Have to check it out today, although I'm not sure how it will be using daylight either

We have different TVs (both HDR capable) and I would go one step further: I don't think the video/audio quality of this disc is even on par with the previous ones in the series. |
