Sony and LG had to jump aboard, as well as the film studios, Fox and very shortly WB just isn't enough to gain momentum. My guess, would be that HDR10+ could become the format for small independent films. |

One might expect that as the format gets more widely used, DV user rights will become cheaper, no? It seams to me that the format is at the moment really catching on with Apple and Sony onboard since 2017 and other hardware en software brands coming? |

![]() I've seen NHK 8k broadcast demos at NAB and color me unimpressed. Sure, it will help with GIANT front projection home systems (but who outside of the super rich will buy 8k projectors for their McMansions) as you limit viewing a visible pixel structure, but the actual image detail looks IMHO no better than good 4k. Compression is still a problem. They may end up with better audio with 22.1 than Atmos on ATSC 3.0 with the possibility of fixed channel print-out Atmos tracks rather than object based to save bandwidth. Maybe 12-bit displays and 4K nits will make it a little more amazing. |

And where will the 8k, Rec 2020 content come from? 2k, P3 upconverts, hmmm? We're truly getting into ridiculous pie in the sky territory now, especially for any region outside of Japan's experimental channels. They should just emphasize getting 4k as it should be. Leave 8k for the giant screen theaters. |

When the TV manufactures offer a 8K TV they will offer a new revolutionary product that is not available on a 4K set - 3D!!!

Perhaps based on the number of DV Blu-ray players sold Disney did not feel the investment in producing a DV disc was worth it.
