I am hoping the new Avatar movies will case a resurgence in the use of home 3D

Many predictions are that new 3D displays won’t be back until 8K.
I have no idea how many 3D sets are being used in homes now.

The major barrier to 3D adoption was viewers having to wear 3D glasses. The active glasses are a bit heavy. I have three 3D 4K (Sony) sets and as I previously have stated I enjoy watching 3D movies because I feel it somewhat make me a part of the movie. I like 4K HDR but I enjoy well made 3D movies even more. Hopefully 8K technology will make 3D a part of its standard and offer a solution which most viewers will enjoy.

What's "HDR10+ tone mapping" now? There's no such thing? There is no tone mapping standard for HDR10+ and each TV manufacturer chooses to do whatever they like!

Yep - there's no room for doubt, we already know: they've chosen HDR10+. Which is why I made that post. Very few people will be creaming themselves about the picture quality of "IMAX Enhanced" discs, or the sound quality for that matter since it's only DTS:X with a teeny tiny tweak.

So very little "max" about it.
