We have one: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JPEG_XR

It's not widely used yet, though, which is a shame.

Xbox One X supports it, and it's the format it uses to store HDR screenshots from video games.

Default Operationally Universal HDR TV?

From 20.11.2018, there are other devices announced to be compatible with all currently operational HDR formats (i.e. HDR10, HLG, Dolby Vision and HDR10+):
. Pioneer UDP-LX500 Blu-ray player
. Pioneer UDP-LX800 Blu-ray player
. Oppo UDP-203 Blu-ray player
. Oppo UDP-205 Blu-ray player
. Hisense TV
. TCL TV
"In addition, the UB450 supports Dolby Vision, a similar alternative to HDR10+. With the UB450 UHD Blu-ray player and a compatible TV (such as the new Panasonic GZ2000) consumers are assured of seeing fully what the filmmaker intended, regardless of which dynamic HDR format has been used."
https://news.panasonic.co.uk/introducing-panasonics-ub450-and-ub150-blu-ray-players-with-hdr10-and-dolby-vision/"

If the press release from Panasonic is correct, then the new Panasonic GZ2000 is compatible with Dolby Vision and HDR10+ (and HDR10 & HLG).

IF that's true then it's the first major step on the road to the main HDR formats coming together in one display package, and hopefully it won't be the last. Some people thought me far too optimistic that this stuff could actually co-exist, but there we are.

That is good knowledge to embellish our lives. Who's the guy Penton?

Panasonic OLED TVs, do they support Dolby Vision now in the year 2019, which is the year of the future vision we all are living now? But they are not available in the USA for the general masses.

Default Operationally Universal HDR TV

"The GZ2000 is the world’s first model capable of displaying both HDR10+ and Dolby Vision® formats. And with Multi HDR support, the GZ2000 is also compatible with HLG (Hybrid Log-Gamma), which is a HDR format expected to be widely adopted by TV broadcasters. HLG Photo, a new still image format is also supported. The screen also supports regular HDR10, as found on most UHD Blu-ray discs and many streaming services."

No consumer?

Heh, I had a sneaky suspicion that Panasonic putting DV on their UHD players was a prelude to something bigger, even after they've publicly pooh-poohed DV as they have in the past, though I didn't imagine it would come quite so soon! You can't be as tightly integrated into Hollywood as they claim they are (PHL etc) without realising which direction the wind is blowing in...

That's way more interesting: this is actually a mid-range model. Is it coming in Japan only?

For those that don't frequent all the 4k software threads, Pieter discovered Robin Hood (2018) will have both Dolby Vision and HDR10+ on the disc.

2themax, do you know if this is a single encode? Were all the wrinkles ironed out?
