Oh, so 8K only matters if I'm watching a giant 85" TV that costs 13 grand from like 7ft away. Good to know.

Still, I'm struck by the similarities between now and 2012 when Sony unveiled their first 4K consumer TV, also at 84" (hey, what's one inch between friends?) and also at an eye-watering cost, $25K IIRC? At least the price has halved in the interim.
