Oh. Given that there's so much other shite on a TV that has be turned off or on these days I'm not sure what difference one less setting will make.

Though TBH I still don't understand why it's necessary for users to enable it at the TV end now? I remember when HDCP 2.2 was starting out on HDMI (remember those days? I know AustinJerry does ) and some chips could do either 600 MHz without 2.2 or 300 MHz with 2.2 so you had to decide between one or the other, but with the later silicon that does both then what difference does it possibly make, why wouldn't the manufacturers just enable the input for the full whack and leave it there?

LG and OLED is alive and well and LG has very agressive plans on the continued growth that are not changing. This year we'll see 88" 8K LG OLED TVs and for 2020 LG's new OLED factory will be in full swing.
It looks like OLED prices next year will become substantially less and may become competitive in the mass market.

You should wait until 2020 to buy a cheaper OLED TV

Inkjet-printed OLEDs point to a cheaper future

Got your eye on one of those pricey OLED televisions? While the premium TV panel technology has stayed out of reach of those with more modest budgets, that could be set to change very soon.

An analyst at IHS Markit (via Digitimes) has suggested that changes in manufacturing methods would lead to a sudden price drop in new OLED televisions, reducing the production cost of each set by 15-25%.

Regarding the post you quoted me on, I was responding to another post (listed above) siting an incorrect and puffed up article in ZDNet. Unrelated, but happy to see advancements coming over the next two or three years.

Robert I was referring to the part shown above about LG's aggressive plans for growth and how their expansion along with the new ways of producing OLEDs will substantially reduce prices. That along with other technologies coming to market will help to substantially drive down prices and improve the mass market viewing experience. (Now if they only put a back 3D I might consider upgrading - maybe Avatar 2 will hep push this.)
