Yeah it was Mark who was raising a stink about the integrity of the Shootout, because his favorite brand (Samsung) came in last place. So instead of blaming the TV, he throws the Shootout itself under the bus. Pretty classless as we're lucky just to have a Shootout like this and AVS banned the person behind it all.

Thank you Bruce. I would love to be back on AVS Forum and hope one day the wrongdoing they banned me for will be acknowledged and my membership will be renewed.
With all that said I love my home here on Blu-ray.com and enjoy the large group of highly skilled and knowledgeable members, mods, admins along with all of great members who come here to learn and contribute, all of which makes this forum a great place to discuss and educate ourselves on our beloved hobby. I love spreading the good word of quality a/v so others can get the best entrainment from home a/v and through my annual TV Shootout and everyday communications to get the manufacturers to enhance their products. |

Once, when we were in France at the Tour de France, I tried to convince my wife of that very thing when while in the hotel bar I simply asked ‘a lady of the night’ who was familiar with the local roadways) directions as to the most expedient way to the next Stage so as to avoid the caravan of vehicles rushing out after the race is over. I ended up sleeping on the couch that night. |

As long as it’s not done mischievously –
https://www.nytimes.com/2015/10/10/b...ting.html?_r=5, <- if that link doesn’t go thru for some, then just google ‘Beyond VW Scandal: Home Appliance Industry no Stranger to Tricks’. I like the idea of higher nits displays….but not at thee expense of our environment which has already been harmed too much. |

Lg is keen on this year too, to bring attention to its HDR Effect feature , for up converting standard dynamic range content to HDR .Lg previous stab at this in 2016 wasn't exactly a rip roaring success , but Lg Claims it now works not just frame by frame but also on specific areas of each frame deliver a more accurate effect .

Yes
IMO, in a nutshell, yes. It is superior to traditional cinema (which we are in the early stages of trying to encourage advancement/improvement – see NGCD hyperlink here…. https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...d#post12847729 ), but falls short to the image quality of the walled gardens of Dolby Vision and IMAX HDR presentations. |

Has anyone tried/watched this?….
SEE - https://www.zdf.de/dokumentation/ter...inder-100.html Download on terrax.zdf.de "The other way is, the movie from this website (see links on this info box) from downloading to a USB stick and play on your TV. To do this, click on the link with the right mouse button and then select "Save target as". If you only click on the link, it may be that your non-4K-enabled PC signals a "corrupted file". The download version brings with the HbbTV version an extended color space, so-called HDR. HDR stands for high-dynamic range, which makes the recordings even more brilliant and the viewer can see more details in light and dark areas of the picture. With a corresponding TV / player you will see much more colors and have a higher contrast range." |
