And BTW I'm not saying that this means streaming compression is perfect, god no, the point is that UHD disc does not require 4x the bandwidth of BD disc.

Exactly, no one ever implied that streaming compression is perfect. Far from it. The eye test, as well as the numbers on the previous page, show that UHD disc is still superior.

It's still a nice effort by Apple. They've done a great job from a picture quality standpoint. It's unfortunate that their first wave of original shows are pretty bad.

Same way a BD doesn't really require 6x the bandwidth of DVD.

EIZO Unveils 30.9-inch, 12 Megapixel Color Monitor for Multi-Modality Medical Applications

EIZO Corporation announced the release of the RadiForce RX1270, a 30.9-inch, super high-resolution 12 megapixel color monitor ideal for multi-modality medical applications. It was originally announced as under development on April 3, 2019 and will begin shipping worldwide in early 2020.

The monitor was developed in response to the persisting need for radiologists to read and interpret a wide variety of medical image types to better diagnose and assess medical conditions in patients. To achieve this, while keeping the radiologists’ comfort in mind, EIZO’s RadiForce RX1270 12 megapixel monitor harmoniously combines both performance and ease-of-use.

The RX1270 is EIZO’s highest resolution monitor at 12 megapixels (horizontal 4200 x vertical 2800 pixels). The resolution is approximately 1.3 times larger compared to EIZO’s former highest 8 megapixel (horizontal 4096 x vertical 2160 pixels) monitor. This allows an even wider range of medical images to be viewed at once, including high volume images displayed in full, for increased reading efficiency. Consistent with EIZO’s line of multi-modality monitors, the RX1270 automatically distinguishes between monochrome and color, ensuring faithfully reproduced images for any modality.

as one had to have been at the wrap party screening last Saturday , but the credits for Frozen II will show lots of ‘production babies’ flashing by fast on the screen, including Malia among others
tech specs - https://www.imdb.com/title/tt4520988...ef_=tt_dt_spec

Korean OLED Manufacturers Have Their Ups and Downs

LG Display (LGD) has released an earnings reports that is disheartening, at least it is if you work for LGD and not for Samsung Display or BOE. But LGD is also experiencing serious teething problems with its OLED panel plant in Guangzhou according to a late-October report in etnews | Korea IT News that references a number of anonymous sources.

It seems that LG Display applied a variety of technologies to maximize productivity in the new fab, but it wound up bringing too many new technologies on line simultaneously, which produced an unstable production system. The question now is whether LGD can stabilize production by the end of the year. The Guangzhou plant began initial operations at the end of August, and, according to "the industry," the yield rate has not achieved LGD's initial expectations. "[The] current yield is between 50 and 60%,” said an industry representative, etnews reported.

In my area (Maryland) and probably other areas of the US the Costco warehouse locations have the Sony OLED TVs on sale for very competitive prices.

Question for those of you in the know. With Disney+ going live this week, is it safe to assume that Dolby Vision on their 4k discs is officially over?

Respect,

Why would you link those two things? I don't think it's safe to predict anything of the sort.

Seeing as we've had precisely two discs from Disnee with DV then I'd say they never really started.

Respect,
I would say Disney never really had any desire to support any dynamic metadata platform on physical media. Streaming seems to have some sort of appeal to them, enough to make DV a central part of their streaming backbone.
