Quick question. I have some 4K rips (both complete discs and smaller encodes) on an external harddrive. My TV has UHD color enabled for all three hdmi ports however if I am plugging my external directly into the USB port it will say specifically HDR for the rips that are on the pop up menu when playing them but I would probably need to plug the external into my actual UHD player to actually get the full HDR of those rips since it will be going through the hdmi port?

Yep. That's working correctly. It wouldn't say HDR on the TV if it wasn't HDR.

No.

*There is a SSIMWave HDR Evaluation Working Group on the American Society of Cinematographers Motion Imaging Technology Council. If the above presentation is review for longtime readers of this thread - https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...n#post15474313 , scroll to the Q&A @ 23:25 of the video for some good questions, e.g. are there banding detection algorithms for HDR?, banding vs. macroblocking?, etc.

World's second OLED TV factory now in 'full-scale mass production'

Quote:
Coronavirus and other factors have delayed mass production at LG Display's new factory in Guangzhou, China. The company started small-scale production of 48-inch panels this summer and at ceremony today the company announced "the beginning of mass production in earnest".

With the world's only second OLED TV panel factory up and running capacity has almost doubled from 70,000 to 130,000 8.5G sheets per month. Each sheet can be cut into smaller panels. The new factory is using a MMG (multi-model glass) method to enable production of 48-inch OLED panels for the first time.

LG Display says that consumers can expect 48- to 77-inch OLED TVs including more affordable "extra-large" OLED TVs.

And for those who missed the zoom chat panel for Comic-Con:

, it wasn’t all about technological advancement and camera placement as Joseph Kosinski ^ discussed, e.g. past visual illustration -
