Offhand, I can’t recall which thread in this forum people were discussing scanning, telecine – DI, etc. but here is recent colorist meetup with Lynette Duensing, one of the few people who were lucky enough to be given an opportunity to work on the very first telecine machines and film scanners. Domestic trailer Bad Boys, Sicario (blood removal/reduction, etc.) and Greyhound (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt6048922/?ref_=ttfc_fc_tt ) discussion beings around 40 min. timestamp -

a bit technical and on the creative side with regards to Flame as mentioned ^, but some membership, esp. our Aussie readers may be interested in this part of the planned discussion -> ‘Learn why Blue Post uses Dolby Vision for all their HDR shows’ and the real-world use cases in this upcoming webinar – https://www.autodesk.com/campaigns/m...ts/flame-dolby |

on a side note, specifically Shane ^ is well trued - https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...e#post16553315
and with regards to colleagues they all look up to, might I add that I have heard no complaints from the intended audience (those not viewing in a reference environment all the time) with regards to Dolby Vision IQ thanks to the efforts and foresight of the following inventors - https://patentimages.storage.googlea...70116963A1.pdf |

shot with the same type camera as above ^, but different type movie – https://britishcinematographer.co.uk...ardy-bsc-devs/ and graded in HDR, of course. Also, as a historical tie-in to puddy77’s post above, in this month’s 100th edition of British Cinematographer there’s a good article on the evolution of color grading |

and so as not to show any personal bias, as a segue into a different magazine, here an article with an introduction referencing sushi, Wabo, as per the chef, with green tea? , and personally I like the macro photography
![]() transitioning to - “In an age of common 4K or UltraHD camera sources, 12G-SDI simplifies cable runs and troubleshooting while also decreasing the amount of time for both setup and distribution”…….. ”An example of this would be shooting with HDR (high dynamic range) delivery in mind. By using the AJA Hi5-12G-R-ST converter, you are able to receive a long ST or LC fiber optic cable run that connects directly to the converter. The converter then is able to generate HDR10 or HLG metadata via its HDMI v2.0 output without any extra conversion, so the image can be viewed appropriately on HDMI HDR monitors on set.” See - https://www.fdtimes.com/2020/07/23/o...-aja-products/ |

It was exciting when Dolby announced the ICtCp, and it seemed like a big deal. But that was it. No mention of it again. Very strange.

What's missing from that slide about profile 5 is
"10 bit only. You know we made a big thing about how 12 bit was required to overcome the Barten Threshold? Please forget that. We're trying to step back from 12bit now. We're even trying to persuade disc creators using Profile 7 NOT to include a Full Enhancement Layer whenever we possibly can". |

![]() Profile 5 which utilizes ICtCp color already is the most widely used profile amongst Dolby’s OTT streaming partners. Now, among other things, Dolby is busy researching and likely fairly close to implementing functionality that would allow one to take the home master (say done at 1000 nits) and be able to map not only to consumer TVs but also to cinema projectors, be it the 100+ nit Dolby laser projector or a 48 nit DCI cinema projector. |

So they are using dual screen LCDs. What about dual stack OLEDs? One company claims 7000 nits for their DS OLED micro displays.
