Lots of papers on HDR presented earlier this week at SMPTE 2020, including Achieving Cinematic Motion with HDR, HDR Objective Measurement, Metamerism, etc.
it's likely some will be published in the future

Never even heard of TrueCut, it sounds like something someone would polish their car with. I mean, I can see you'd posted about it earlier in the thread Penton but that was during the incessant Top Gun 2 updates so I'd kinda tuned out by then.

Interesting stuff though: https://www.jonpeddie.com/news/pixel...ivery-platform, though they're kinda shooting themselves in the foot with the 48fps thing are they not? It's all well and good talking about making something that's like instantly compatible with all screens and all devices but unless they add 48p to the UHD Blu spec then it's not coming to a screen near you any time soon...unless they can use the T-Cut to whizz up a 60p version? (If so then maybe PJ should done this for the Hobbitses on 4K UHD.)

Oh, and look at all those graphs! Lee would be like a hog in a waller, gawd bless 'im.

Despite the technically seductive nature of pushing the WCG envelope, e.g. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ro0AaPCIpc#t=1s , why Netflix recommends post houses grade in P3D65 and deliver either P3D65 files or Rec. 2020 files limited to P3D65, scroll down here - https://postperspective.com/color-gr...cial-distance/

memory test….no, not - person, woman, man, camera, TV, Top Gun: Maverick, Hard Deck, but rather -

Geoffrey, do you recall some of the inserted stills here - https://postperspective.com/colorist...structing-csi/ from a past HDR workshop presentation linked to about two years ago in this thread.

Yes, IIRC that's the one where matey explained why SDR grades tend to push a bit green, not through any fault of the system per se but because blue carries such low luminance that they inject a bit of green in there to give it more kick.

but rather as to imagery and AI’s effect on HDR production for entertainment purposes, here’s an opportunity to join, for free, the live launch event of Colourlab Ai on November 24 and see how Colourlab AI, the world’s first Ai-powered color grading application makes delivering HDR effortless and may change the universe of color grading……https://www.eventbrite.com/e/falling...sbonlinesearch

However, I doubt Shraddha Pai feels deterred by that given her team’s accomplishment resulting from Apple’s collaboration with Dolby.
nor will Jon -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WIV6Iy0FNvs#t=4m54s
And with regards to the included ‘super computer!’ chip you get and the Dolby Vision HDR process – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WIV6Iy0FNvs#t=13m6s
