Good HDR movie list to show up (demo) your HDR TV mojo prowess.
And also ... 'John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum' (in 4K UHD Blu-ray HDR)

A guilty pleasure of mine is that I’ve re-watched Ford v Ferrari twice since 2019 and likely more in the future as time passes. It was graded and mastered in traditional SDR digital cinema (14fL P3D65), Dolby Cinema (108nit P3D65), the SDR and HDR home video on Sony BVM-X300 monitors. Love the story and the look.

P.S.
Note to puddy, DDH, Lee Stewart, et al., I think you’ll find Capt. Kidd’s profession depicted in the movie to be quite likeable.

do you fancy that ^? We can correlate your thoughts as to the look of TMS, to those of the DP, Martin Ruhe, who, for those who haven’t heard, will be on an upcoming ASC Clubhouse conversation - https://ascmag.com/articles/asc-club...deo-collection, next year.

Why are you guys asking me about all of these movies? I don’t care for any of them. Let’s go back to the 80s or 70s when movies were actually good. How about Alien? Let’s leave the colour grading aside for now, if that’s how Ridley wants it to look like in 2020, fine. But why is the HDR so dark? There are moments of greatness that come through and then followed by so many missed opportunities. HDR hides actor faces 70% in the shadow. This is not how 35mm prints looked like, nor is it how movies were shot. Poor Yaphet, you can hardly see him now. I’d probably sue if I were him.

I agree with Bizarro Jim (first time for everything). Those movies look lame.

As an aside to Alien, the consideration of Scanning, for example, last month, DFT’s OXScan 14K scanner was used by OMNIMAGO to complete a ‘world-first’ project producing super 8K content from restored S35mm classic footage

Lulz. Alien UHD looks fantastic, either on my set or my family's projector. You need a new monitor.

About a film of the 90s from a Canadian filmmaker?
This 1996 flick was restored this year (pandemic) in 4K HDR10 ...

Also, are you (Noremac) familiar with Requiem for a Dream (2000)? ...Twenty years ago.
It too received the 4K HDR treatment.

* Alien (1979) in HDR looks superb on OLED; oily (holy) blacks.

Talking about movies in general, on this forum, such as I do on various threads. So how about Alien? The HDR is shit. As a Hollywood insider, any insight on where it went wrong?
