I agree; with the economy slowly but surely rebounding.

Right on!

We need to expand the cultural heritage of each country, of each community, of each nation...it's an oasis of multicultural rainbow from people making our societies...human evolution on the global stage, for the entertainment on our blue planet. It's like . . . Rio, Reno, Montecarlo.

This was the movie (1986) that put home theater on the map; the rest is his story ... Dolby Atmos/Vision ... HDR.

Most of the time I stay far away from them. For movies that we did not see at the theater we have always rented to see if we liked them then purchased if they had potential for repeat viewing. IIRC we have had Netflix disc by mail since 2006. Did suspend for a year or two when we used Blockbuster by mail.

And our still alive and kickin vintage devices. A pleasant surprise as to support. I have a PlayStation 3 on the cabinet in one of the guest rooms in the place we keep down San Diego way. It’s actually one of the originals first off the assembly line and still functioning well to this day. Anyway, lo and behold, years after its production, a new firmware became available recently –

Good strategy Wendell. I also occasionally use this as a box is located right on the route of my bike ride - https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...t#post15234940

Is Technicolor HDR still a thing or is it pretty much dead?

It never really gained much traction for use in movies ((nor, for that matter, for live sports - https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...z#post13891012 ) since the time of Josh L. -
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L0pj5n1fJjU#t=1s
who has since left Technicolor for Viacom and this acquisition went thru - https://www.lightreading.com/video/t.../d/d-id/749399

I think their emphasis now (which, for that matter others (Dolby) are also investigating behind the scenes) is on other emerging technologies such as, but not limited to, AI, AR/VR and immersive stuff which is more comfortable than headsets, like -
https://www.youtube.com/watch?app=de...Aq_gNo#t=13m7s .

Since this is the Top Gun thread, here's some related news. You will have an opportunity to live it in a flight simulator.

Is HDR expected to stay a mostly TV show/movie thing or will it eventually be more common on TV? I know it's been used for some sporting events but are there any efforts to make it available on more content?

You mean other programming like NEWS shows, etc., except for maybe concerts, not that I’m aware of. Meanwhile awareness of the format should grow with DIY usage -
