We’ve been considering a whole house generator.

We had a outage when our block’s transformer died last summer.
Power out around 20 hours to replace it. And we’ve had 2 or 3 threats of power out (PGE) due to wind / fire danger, but it’s not local, it’s due to grid outages, or overloads.

And the joke is we have some solar panels, but they’re not allowed to provide energy during an outage so power doesn’t flow backwards into the PGE system so power workers can’t get electrocuted.

Having no power is like watching a flick without HDR.

I like Trumbull but he's been pushing HFR since at least the early '80s with ShowScan. Cinema seems stuck at 24fps with all the griping about Peter Jackson and Ang Lee's experiments to bring it forward.

We’ll see what happens with HFR when the Avadah sequels are finally released, Cameron is only using the higher rate for action scenes and stuff so it’ll be interesting to see how audiences take to it. If those sequels go over big then that might lead to a big push for HFR, but I think their success will be in spite of the 3D and HFR, not because of it.

And, no HDR10+ support, ever. ...Neither Wi-Fi.
This player is for the French and German markets.
Here in my artic Canadian igloo, it's a no-fly zone. This thing won't disloge my Oppo or make any mental dent in my intimate desires of life.
Why didn't he plug it in and try it?

He seemed to spend 9 minutes being excited about how heavy/light it was (apologies for my lack of understanding of French!). That's not a primary concern.

He had it right there, but didn't want to plug it in and use it!

Makes total good kommon visual sense; Kameron's into the right path of sin-ema evolution.
And, 3D will be bak ... in one form or another, with or without Godzkilla and Kink Konk's permission.

Like you just said; interesting times ahead ... Avadar & all (all that HDR jazz ...).

Methinks he's a French promoter to make a buck.
As a matter of fact I don't think, I'm sure.

Also, those two new players seem to be developed as time and advertising go.
They are not cooked yet, plus they demand high dough.

* You read and write English, good enough.

I hate to sound old sk00l and stuck in my 44 year old ways, but man I just love 24 fps. That's how I ingest anything cinematic, and anything else just looks fake to me. With that said...given enough time I MIGHT be able to adjust, but it would be a tall hurdle to jump for me.

Indeed. 24fps has the unique cinematic feel. Anything higher than 24fps looks like behind-the-scenes rehearsal footage on the DVD extras. Always has, always will.
