Top of the morning folks. clear and sunny on the beach - https://hoteldel.com/live-webcam/ where any morning fog has already burned off, perhaps still a bit cloudy out at sea though.

Anyway, a tad over 3 years ago, to the day, outside a fine breakfast eats café up north in Santa Clarita on Sierra Hwy. well known to locals was - https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...y#post15872131

So, attention: ronboster et al., what would an NFL Championship game be (and, for that matter, the Super Bowl) be without a new Top Gun: Maverick pregame promotional clip.

postscript: life is certainly more fun when it comes with a little action - like flying ~ 400 mph….30ft above a dry lake bed in a fighter attack jet having a wingspan much greater than that.

Yo gkolb, so what’s that make the math for January’s viewership, a tad more than 20,000 views/per day for this thread? February may be a slower month in terms of contributions given the upcoming tech retreat and as I’ll be doing more weekday outdoor activity what with the days’ daylight getting a bit longer now.

Speaking of colors:
https://www.extremetech.com/extreme/...s-what-we-know

They should have those people grading in the studios.

"Dammit! REC2020 isn't enough!" They see the world beyond HDR.

not subject cDa29 - https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...t#post13364036 , per se, who if memory serves is a physician living in the U.K. and the first tetrachromat known to science, but yes, Ms. Antico is yet another color gifted one living closer to your neck of the woods and the irony involving her daughter –

On a historical note, looking back on decisions about colorimetry -

It went totally unreported on other AV forums (as none AFAIK are privy to the details of projects in SMPTE working groups), but alternatively, here on Blu-ray.com the pros and cons were discussed rather extensively between Richard and myself with regards to the proposal set forth by Hollywood studios and Dolby for standardization in SMPTE which was to include PQ as an EOTF and using the XYZ color space for encoding (as opposed to BT.2020).

Where’s Wabo? For your youngins the original 35mm film material, scanned with 4K resolution, was treated with up to 15 passes involving various work steps, from image stabilization to the elimination of dirt and damage to complex color correction. By now, if not I suspect soon, the reborn children's movie classic Heidi (1952) may ? be running in 4K HDR Dolby Vision on Apple TV –

Yet the goofuses in the marketing department at places like Kino will use the same "4K restoration" term on a title like Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy or Man on the Moon.

Yes, it’s in DV. How do you fail to renew? It’s automatic.

Wabo’s back.

I got a new credit card from a different company and voided the old of which the HBO Max subscription was funded. Thusly, the auto payment to HBO was apparently declined by the bank that issued my new card. I’ve got to be more diligent in reading all my emails and updating the funding of all membership dues, etc. that have been on auto for a long time which I forget about.

P.S.
b.t.w. Wabs your advice was wrong, as the gizmo I pictured was reverse threaded, so I’m not paying this bill -> https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...l#post18239647
