On mine its in a few other scenes in ROTS, but ROTJ is far worse, they are there from the scene of the Rebel Briefing all the way up to them landing on the moon of Endor....they are really distracting, it seems that not that many other people can see them, so I don't know if its the set or what..

the only thing I really noticed in ROTS were the grain/noise spikes, particularly in the background when Anakin is talking to Padmé about his nightmares at the beginning. If you look at towards the right at the city background you'll see it. Its much worse if you have edge enhancement on, with it turned off its less noticeable though.

I think they make more money this way. Everyone would have purchased this regular set. When the special edition comes out, no doubt,a good number will double dip

I would've paid for a set akin to the BTTF or JP tins or something. Plus it would've given people choice, they wouldn't have to buy the fancy looking set if they didn't want to, just stick with the standard, and let people who wanted to buy the others do so.

Strange question but does anyone know the weight of a sealed boxset of the complete saga? I plan to send mine back as it's damaged a little and want to know the cost.

When I ordered the JP box. I thought about the Star Wars at £35. I'm the same for not buying it so far, it looks awful. naff changes and what poor artwork (who the hell chose that?)
Even at £35 I didn't. If it were a tenner I'd buy for the extras. DVD artwork and picture so much better, especially ESB. Saw the Bespin part where Chewie, Leia etc are running from Stormtroopers. Wow, utter sh***. Looked like a cardboard painted screen for background - no doubt it was, but it always looked so real, even on VHS. Reminded me on many low budget straight to DVD movies or if you've ever seen A Sound of Thunder. Shocking considering the Tech and Money they have on tap. Looking forward to a much better release in a decent box/tin with something collectable about it and classic star wars artwork. |

I don't see the Blu's as such an uplift from those DVD's (on an upscaler) compared to the jump DVD looked when they were released. Not for £70 or even £35 Like I said, with what is available to Lucas etc, the fanbase and the fact that lower budget movies from that era with less money thrown at them, look 10 times better. I expected MUCH more. And then there is the box... nothing special, not even a choice to buy a tin set or something limited etc. Bland and Ugly Last edited by Blu-Ray Winstone; 11-18-2011 at 12:18 PM. |

Seen them playing in HMV - Sony 42" played through PS3
They now play Lion King on one screen and something else on another, they look really good. So I haven't watched them from start to finish, but I pop into HMV while I wait for the train home - I've seen a lot of ANH, ESB and ROTJ - they don't look that amazing, £70. Not sure if bitter is correct, disappointed is better. Really though, how long have fans been waiting for these? 4 - 5 years for Blu Ray .... Is it an anti climax or are you as blown away by the quality and the packaging as you had expected? I hoped for a Tin or something that was managed for Back to the Future, Jurassic Park .. This is Star Wars we're talking about. I had hoped for artwork like all the classic releases, but maybe one which covers all six movies. I've seen a few 'custom' ones. Are you blown away... If a special limited tin were released as I've suggested which would you have bought ? |

Judging the PQ of a film on HMV's promo set up really isn't any measure. Those TV's are never calibrated, and the space itself is hardly similar to home viewing conditions. Anyway, this is a pointless conversation, reviews across the board for Empire were very positive. Here's a bit from this sites own review. "the 1080p/AVC-encoded transfers of the three "classic" Star Wars films are fairly consistent with one another and, in a word, amazing. If you need a number, I'm comfortable giving 4.5's across the board for the integrity and simple gorgeousness of these three transfers. If you grew up watching these films on VHS you're going to be blown away. I don't say that lightly." I'd like to see a Blu-ray release that "look 10 times better" to quote yourself. |

I don't know what I was expecting with the original three films, I was hoping they'd be pretty authentic but the botch job that was the DVD's gave me doubt. They really should have gone back to the film elements and started over but alas it was not to be. I don't think we'll ever see the theatricals on BD unless the revised editions get an overhaul as well. I'm keeping an eye out for a decent price for the Saga but the problems the some members are reporting are a bit worrying. Lucas has form for ignoring the problems with home releases as he's loathe to admit any mistakes (at least in public anyway). |

A good example is Phenomena, a low budget mid 80's horror. PQ is awesome looks like it was made this year. Its an Arrow release, not having a budget anywhere near what Lucas has... They have included Double sided fold out poster World Exclusive booklet with brand new writing. Look at the care and attention paid to Dawn of the Dead, also Arrow. For somehting older, with maybe half the budget..... James Bond. Apprently Dr. No is a 'show piece' for Blu Ray. I haven't heard anyone say " You want convincing to upgrade DVD to Blu, watch Star Wars." "£70 is a good price for what you get" Look at Jurassic Park, the Tin, the set with the Figure, the release in Germany in a wooden box. Look at what you get included. I'm glad you are happy with your SW box set. For me, I'm not prepared to pay £70 for it. I had the option to buy it at £35 online yesterday, no thanks. IMO It is not good enough. |

Thats fair enough, but please don't use some fallacy that the PQ of the OT is flawed when its clear that the thing stopping you from investing is the packaging. |

No its not? The whole package for £70 is not worth it. It is not the great Star Wars Blu release I was expecting. Maybe I have higher standards. |
