Empire of Dreams was excellent, I am hanging on to my OT DVD set for that reason.

I've watched the first two special features discs now, to be honest they are a little disappointing. Fairly dry interviews that fail to capture the x-factor that makes Star Wars what it is. There is a lot of content but nothing particularly exciting.

Would have loved to see something a little more in-depth, the LOTR extras (both on the EEs and the Costa Bates docos) are definitely the benchmark here.

That said, the extras do have a few interesting little nuggets here and there. What I had assumed were CG backgrounds in the ROTS were actually miniatures, and some of the concept artwork is incredible.

I'm sure i've still got my old OT DVD boxset somewhere so will have to dig that out and watch Empure of Dreams at somepoint. I've not watched any of the special features on the blu's so will start with disc 3.

Has anyone ventured to the cinema to watch the masterpiece that is Episode 1 in 3D yet?

Yeah, I caught it last week.

To be honest, it didn't make much difference for the most part. Though I admit the 3D worked really well in certain places.

As with all 3D, if you hated it in 2D, you'll hate it just as much in 3D.

I don't take many trips to the cinema anymore but with Star Wars I thought it might be worth it. I don't mind Episode 1, it's the worst one obviously but I like the prequel trilogy as it puts pictures where my mind used to imagine the back story.

Think i'll give this one a miss but will go for Episode 3 onwards

Why the hell are they releasing them in the cinema in episode order.

A whole new audience who might not have seen it will not get the experience of the epic twist in Empire.

Lets be honest, who would go and see Star Wars at the cinema if they haven't already seen them?

It had been quite a while since the last time I'd seen Star Wars. Just watched the original trilogy on Blu-ray and I still loved A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back but had really mixed feelings about Return of the Jedi. With the exception of a few really good scenes I thought it was borderline an insult to the first two films. I felt like I was watching a film written by a 7 year old. I wish they'd given the trilogy a much serious ending than this childish freak show. It's strange how opinions change so often. I remember loving Return of the Jedi when I was a kid. Perhaps that's the reason too.

The first two films look superb and audio on all three flick is near perfect. I'm still glad to own the original trilogy even though the only extras are a few commentaries.

Criminally boring, badly acted, directed with no flair, impenetrable dialogue and even John Williams has a rough time escaping this film with his head held high.
Disagree with the John Williams bit but agree with the rest. Didn't see it in 3D but everyone I've heard from agrees with this

Really? In nearly every screening I attended, everyone seemed to have a great time - especially the kids. They really seemed to love it.

And the 3-D was pretty awesome, too!

Recently watched all six films and apart from Episode 1 was really happy with the transfers.

The films for me pretty much go in order for ones i think are the best 1-6

Love Jedi and Empire, hard to choose between them.

I love the trilogies as a 'great yet flawed' series of films. They are what they are, which is to say groundbreaking, loved by a great number of people, and an inexorable part of pop culture. But they are by no means perfect films - and in a lot of respects that doesn't matter.

The above is the same explanation I give when I tell people Back to the Future is my favourite film. Great yet flawed.

TPM in 3D is a mixed bag, but a lot of us do think the 3D was pretty good. There were times where it could have been better i.e. the pod racing, but it excelled in other areas like duel of the fates.

Its the best conversion you're going to see.
