I would have loved it for £25. I'm not sure how longer it will be available. I figured I paid £33 for the original trilogy box set on release and £35 for my prequel DVDs, so the reduced price wasn't too bad, but it was more expensive than the Eastwood set I cancelled and that had 20 movies!

Did you somehow miss the fact that a bunch of Star Wars releases were cheap?

Hi, noticed this was cheap today (Happy May the Fourth to all!)

Has there been any change into what this set includes recently? Have they condensed the packaging or less discs?

Yep. £37.75 again.

Rather than watch the Blus I'm watching the Empire of Dreams documentary they criminally left off the boxset.

I'm really tempted to finally pick this up today too. It's a long wait before we get the new complete saga! Haha

Great price for the set today, but I'm holding off for a better Disney boxset.

For those buying it, make sure to put it through Flubit first.

I remember spending ages trying to find that doc on the BDs - it seemed completely impossible to me that they'd have left it out, it's too good.

Any future release should have that put back in.

Fox own the home video rights thru 2020.

Fox has theatrical, nontheatrical and home video rights worldwide through May 2020 (For Episodes I-III, V and VI) and has rights to the original movie in perpetuity. I'm sure we'll see individual special editions for all the movies before 2020.

I got this on day one. Inevitably I will buy the special editions, especially if we get Return of the Jedi version without the awful added "NOOOOO"......

The ''Noooooo...'' is awful. It's the reason I refuse to buy this set. Yeah, I don't like a lot of the other changes either but those I can deal with but the NO was a step too far. It was crap in Ep III and it is even worse in Ep VI.

Fox have home video distribution rights. Lucasfilm still own the films and decide when a home video set is released, and what goes in it.

The last box set was a Lucasfilm box set, distributed by Fox. The next box set will be a Lucasfilm box set, distributed by Fox. The relationship between Fox and Lucasfilm has not changed with Disney's purchase, and a new "unaltered" trilogy set could come at any moment.

I really really hope that the OT comes out on BD in conjunction with Episode 7! I think everybody would agree that they would sell like hot cakes!

Watched all the Blu-rays of the OT yesterday and for the second time now. I have to say, as great as it is to see the movies in high definition, the 97 special edition effects stand out like a sore thumb, especially in Mos Eisley. C3PO's quip: "I don't like the look of this," couldn't have been more appropriate. Also the "Nooo!" which actually comes about three seconds before Vader moves on the Emperor, which surely Palp would've heard? Logic breaking additions, it's madness, the digital rocks in Tatooine are terrible too. Ruins the composition of the original shot and when we cut to a wide, the digital rocks are gone! They're literally creating new continuity errors as they go along. Who makes these decisions?

Unfortunately, to see the original cuts in HD it would cost them a lot of money as I understand the 97 prints are the masters really, so to clean everything up to look great on Blu-ray is something I never see being done. Then there's that grey area...if they did do it, do they leave everything exactly as it is? Or clean up some of the matte lines? Fix the lightsabers?

To me it's just starting to grate on my viewing experience. Might have to start turning to fan efforts to present the films as originally as possible, but even then things have been changed. The woes and first world problems of Star Wars purists eh!

The only possible reason I can think of for including those rocks in front if R2 is for the pop out effect in the then planned 3D re release. But it seems unlikely we will be seeing 3D versions of any of the other films anytime soon so makes it all pretty pointless now.
