Bandai is releasing a 1/12 scale chrome plated Captain Phasma action figure model kit in February. Kylo Ren is expected to be released in April.

The Bandai kits are pretty cool and not expensive at all. They have in their Star Wars model kit line faceless humanoids (Boba Fett/Darth Vader/Stormtroopers etc.) and droids in 1/12 scale and ships in 1/144 and 1/72 scale. The Bandai Star Wars kits are sadly harder to come by these days because Revell+Disney have banned the sales outside of Japan.

I've recently built their Boba Fett model kit. Boba Fett has a decent amount of articulation and the color separation is not bad, though I still had to add some paint and use some stickers and waterslide decals. I still need to do some extra weathering.

Here is my Boba Fett:

Next to a 1/144 scale Gundam model kit and a Marvel Legends figure

While we're on collectables, grabbed this bugger. Been out of the collecting game for a wee while now but after watching TFA last week felt the urge to grab something hairy

23" Sideshow Premium Format with light-up base

Expensive but been a good boy all year!

I know I've got Poes x-wing, and I have a feeling the other one might be the new tie fighter. I'm tempted to buy myself Rens ship too,

No. I used whatever paint I had at home and sandpaper to give the plastic a rougher and less shiny look.

Here is how he looks out of the box unpainted and without stickers: http://schizophonic9.com/re3/bandai_boba.html

And here he is unpainted and with only the stickers applied: http://thefwoosh.com/2015/10/bandai-...del-kit-review

I have been collecting the UCS sets, expensive but very impressive and more of a display piece.

I just ordered the BB-8 and R2D2 Bandai model kits.

Say what you want, but these bots hold the franchise together

So I just watched New Hope on BD and ignoring the stupid stuff like reediting that scene with Greedo and redubbing dialogue, which is stupid enough, why has Lucas just replaced random bits with CG? Like he replaces SOME of the shots of the X-Wings and Tie Fighters during the fight at the Death Star, but then leaves the miniatures in other shots? What is the point? All the way through the CG is just so random and serves no function, Jabba looked awesome in New Hope, that CG version is just shit. Plus the film is really tactile and gritty so just throwing in random CG Stormtroopers into the crowds of real ones, or whatever, just looks dumb as hell.

And yet dusty, glitchy, lightsaber blades remain intact, as do rubbery, plasticy props and obvious matte lines. Shouldn't he have put the CG budget into "fixing" these things? Its just nonsense.

Jabba has always been CG in A New Hope

Re the digital 'tinkering', I don't know which is worse, the Han 'super reflex' head tilt to avoid Greedo's shot, or Han stepping over Jabba's tail when he walks behind him. Both look horrible.

Yeah I didn't articulate that well, I meant as in he looked so good in Return of The Jedi, why did we need this extra scene in New Hope and nonetheless rendered in Syfy channel CG? He's integrated so poorly it just blows the mind. If nothing else, isn't Jabba way bigger than that?

The tail thing. Worst scene ever in anything. Well, actually the scene was good and relivent so should have been kept, but not with the original Jabba. But it's horrible. If they had an aid to the hutts instead and dubbed the wording slightly, then Han could have walked around as filmed and it could have looked a zillion times better

Yeah he seems way bigger in ROTJ, but about the same smaller size in other cgi efforts, like TPM. It's just the worst bit. I get the dislike for Lucas and his fiddling about, but some things work ok. Should have been left, but the bigger explosion is fine and some other tweaks. Not the CGI Jabba though, hate it.

The CG Jabba in ANH was a shoddy attempt to re-insert a long deleted scene in to the film. Jabba was originally a fat human being, that scene was shot with han acting next to a person. Of course by the time Jedi came along they went full animatronic.

Meaning that to re-insert the deleted scene they had to put a CG Jabba over the top of the original actor. So when Han walks around the back of him they have that really bad edit of him stepping on Jabbas tail.

It's not the worst change from a glaringly obvious point of view, but the rocks covering R2 on the Blu-ray of A New Hope is far and away the most mind boggling change of the entire history of changes. It creates continuity errors, and is poorly done at that.

Must have been done for the 3D release. It gives a better depth perspective adding something in the foreground. I'm sure it'd make sense if we actually got it released in 3D. But as it stands the 3D films are just sitting on the shelves next to the UOT gathering dust instead of making money.

Not disputing that it is poorly done, but what continuity errors does it create?
