It's silly going all the trouble of reprinting a new slipcase but not the cover under it. I have ended up doing my own cover by scanning the slip and do a bit of size tinkering.

Disney have done it for years, we've had waves of Classic slips, with old covers underneath. Their biggest effort was going from the new Classic look away from the yellow-blob old-style.

Fortunately, I was never into the slips for the Disney's. I started getting them when the BOGOF was new and my ones never came with slips. I made the decision they were going to be without.

I was one of the folks who got an incorrect version of Rise of Skywalker from the Zoom promotion, so they kindly send me a seperate slipcover from the new edition.

Really pleased with these slipcovers and Zoom for rectifying their error!

I'm thinking about buying this Blu-ray set as I only have a DVD set from 2006 currently. Can anyone tell me if the Disney ones released earlier this year (The Skywalker Saga) are any better than the 2011 Blu-ray set? I can get the 2011s cheaper, but would buy the Disney one if it looks and sounds better. Thanks.

Well I noticed that all of the movies on the Disney versions offer DTS-HD MA 7.1 audio (the 4K ones have Dolby Atmos). I was just curious if the picture quality is really any different other than the cropping issues mentioned earlier in this thread. I only have the movies on DVD currently and will go with the Disney set if it's the choice for the "official" versions. Thanks.

If you care about the extras, the 2011 is still worth getting. The new 2020 set has new (2012) transfers for the original trilogy, so I'd say it's worth getting for those alone.

I was having trouble finding the link for the reviews. Would you happen to have it? I saw that the 2020 Disney ones all had 7.1 audio where the 2011 Fox ones all have a mix of 6.1 or 5.1. Watching some comparisons on YouTube, a lot of people are saying the color on the 2011s looks sort of 'blown out' and others saying that the 2020s look flat. Is there any reason why you prefer the 2020 transfer?

I do have both. The 2020 versions have a more natural color grading and have all the improvements of a new scan. The colors don't 'pop' as much when compared with the 2011 versions. Wether you prefer one or the other only you can say.

You can check some comparisons here:

A New Hope
The Empire Strikes Back
Return of the Jedi

As far as audio goes, the only difference is really 7.1 vs 6.1.

It's still worth getting both, specially for the extras.

P.S: Don't trust YouTube comparisons.

What are the chances of getting a slip with the Rogue One UHD if bought in a 3 for 36 quid offer at the moment?

Have they appeared 'naked' yet?

Depends where you order from. HMV seem to only have the new slips in stock and when I ordered Rogue One and Solo from Zoom a month or two ago they turned up one with the old slip and one without a slip.

Unless you're only after a single Trilogy, I think you're better off with this:

at £59.99. If you're not fussed with the new masters you can get the first two Trilogies on the used market for quite a reasonable amount.

Same, but I figured there would be at least one person that would want to know.

I do like the new artwork, hopefully they've put the right masters on these discs!

If Disney had taken the time to include the OT without the "Lucasifications" or even the holiday special in these new releases, I would've traded in the last box set.

But nah.

Just more rerelease milking from Disney to keep Star Wars relevant until they're ready to start shoving more Mandalorians down our throats.

Additional details on the new cash grab releases on the links below. It is a good offer for those who only care about specific films, but most people buying these will be collector completist. If these were 4K 9 disc sets, I'd be a buyer, as I'm still waiting for a better set to replace my hodgepodge collection. If these included new bonus features, I'm sure Disney would have that on blast.
