Hope someone is pulling a prank here.

This can't be true, surely... if so I will probably cancel my pre-order. I don't mind most of the changes but adding in overdubbed dialogue to ruin one of the defining scenes..... Totally ****ed up and outrageous.

I was too young for the Original trilogy's cinema release, so with all these changes I don't think I can even remember a time seeing them in their original form. I didn't grow up with the originals so some of these alterations don't bother me as much as other people, but I can understand why it can outrage fans. The dragon cry from Ep4 seems very strange, kind of like they are trying to remind us of the flying thing from EP2.

As long as the audio and visuals on this set are top notch I'll pick it up instore, provided I have the required funds for it.

I think the fact is you don't need to have nostalgic feelings about the OT to know that the Nooo! is god awful. It does not suit the scene at all.

It's film suicide to do a forced OTT line in one of the most iconic scenes of all time. Look at the rap Lucas took for it in ROTS, now he's just pissing on us.

Again, whats annoying here is that once R2 is out, the rocks that were covering him are gone.

It's not even there when the Sandpeople rummage through Luke's speeder. I think that they couldn't even make it a consistent change is even more galling, now it's just another continuity cock-up.

And that Han and Greedo thing, why they couldn't change it so Greedo's weapon has a misfire and then Han blasts him I don't know. Then Greedo would still shoot first but Han would kill him just for trying. Anakin gets redeemed after murdering children and going on a 20 year terror campaign but a classical western hero can't shoot first?

I'm still looking forward to the Blu-rays though but I might wait for the price to come down a bit.

We don't know. The BBFC hasn't rated the films for this release yet.

Now Obi-Wan slips on a banana instead.

I'd imagine it will be re-inserted, the BBFC have already rated the film for a 12 and providing there aren't any content changes it might not need to be re-submitted.

I am sure they have rated it, but haven't put the information on their website yet. Its not that long until it is released. They are probably pressing and packaging the sets as we speak, or have already been done. It takes a few days for the stores to receive the items, and get them ready for sale/sent. I would imagine .

The changes are all confirmed to be in the actual Blu-rays. The rips are legit.

Oh well. Time to delete my rips and wait for the real deal. Glorious 1080p with DTS-HD MA 6.1 sound. It's still going to be beautifull to look at and listen to.

The original obi wan sound was terrible, sounded like a car alarm, new one sounds like it's a person, this is a non issue.
Im not sure where the vader noo! is so I'll have to wait to see the blus to decide.

Non of the changes thus far have ever bothered me to such an extent, with me being only 16 I never experienced The Original Saga as part of my childhood, and only really got into Star Wars via the Theatrical trilogy released in 2006, but the changes in the special editions didn't bother me very much. However, the 'Nooo' added to Vader's betrayal just destroys an amazing scene in my opinion, and instead of his decision being strong and having an impact on the viewer, it just seems cheesy. I don't get why Lucas goes out of his ways to change irrelevant things. Fair enough saying he wanted more creatures here and there, but if Vader saying No was in his original vision, then he would have put it in the original film. Greedo shooting first never bothered me, but why go out of your way for such a minor scene?

Edit: Even the 'Noo!' change isn't going to stop me from buying this though. Call me a hypocrite if you want for disliking a change but buying the copy on which the change is, but the pros of seeing the complete Star Wars saga in full HD outweigh the minor cons such as the changes in my opinion. I hope he doesn't release another set for at least five years without good reason though. I don't mind upgrading my format but I think Star Wars has had enough releases for one film saga without rereleasing it over and over again. I believe most of his thought process will be into the 3D editions now, possibly Indy on Blu. Maybe he will undo the changes that really make the fans cry that honestly can't be part of his original vision, such as Greedo shooting first (surely he would have just made Greedo shoot first?) or Vader saying No, but I wouldn't get your hopes up considering how long complaints have been going on about Greedo.

The new version of Jabba's door seems such a waste, nothing wrong with how it was, I wonder how much $$$$$ and man hours they wasted on that. Sebulba (if it is him) inside the palace is a nice touch I think.

Vader saying "nooooo" in Jedi now is a really stupid inclusion and ruins the scene.

Remember kids Lucas doesnt care about what the "fans" think. I'll stick with the dvds until this is around £30

I feel the door improves the scene to the extent that Jabba's palace now has a bigger scale, but you're right to question why they bothered to spend the money and man hours on changing door sizes instead of making sure we get the best picture quality possible. If there are serious faults with the picture quality, I'll be pretty angry that Lucas focused his attention in the wrong areas.

I've defended the special editions alot, having first watched the 1997 version as a kid. Hell, I didn't even mind Lucas adding HC in the 2004 edition, but the main things that annoyed me were Greedo shooting first and the lightsabers not being completley re-edited. Seriously, the lightsabers are so inconsistent and I know Lucas himself has a "Han shot first" t-shirt. It puzzles me why those things weren't changed and Lucas thought it was neccessary to put some rocks infront of R2 and add that retarded "noooooooo" in ROTJ.

Still, we have to accept that this is Lucas' vision, these are his films and he can do what he wants unfortunatly. I'm not going to jump on the "I'm cancelling my pre-order" bandwaggon, instead I'm really anxious to experience the whole saga in HD, I think we're going to be in for a real treat.

It probably took twenty minutes and five million dollars. Problem is they forgot to change the door when Luke arrives.... I'm beginning to think the people who worked on these changes have never even seen the movies.... Surely they must check if their changes creates a continuity (we haven't seen shots of Luke entering yet) error twenty minutes later?
