was just doing a bit of paperwork after we caught an attempted theft.

and i love hearing the excuses as to why they don't have enough money.

"oh shit! what happened to the cash i just had in my wallet?!"

"crap...i gotta go back to my car to get my wallet, i left in in there."

"i thought i had more money than i do...lemme go get some more out of the car."

"oh i didn't know that was in there (hidden inside a storage box or other box with a different product label). i didn't wanna buy that...just the stuff i had in the cart."

sadly, this is at the very least a weekly occurrence and is close to becoming a daily occurrence. it's good when we catch them...but we don't catch everyone, unfortunately.

That reminds me of something funny that happened at a job I was working last year. It was around the holidays so there was a bunch of theft. This guy and his girlfriend were caught trying to steal and the guy immediately started to get defensive. He was yelling as he was leaving the store, saying that we "need Jesus" because we wouldn't let him steal merchandise. I guess Jesus condones theft now, who knew?
