Drinking another cup of coffee, just got back from a trip to the dump and picking up my mother from the hospital post-surgery. Kiddo just texted me a few pictures from her 4th of July thing at her aunt's cabin in New Hampshire. She's having a blast with her mom's side of the family this weekend, I'm happy for her, my 4th of July was low-key I didn't even bother lighting off or going to watch fireworks this year, I mowed my parents' huge yard with just a push mower ( I really need to look into getting them a ride-on mower ), had a couple ice cold beers and grilled a nice thick Porterhouse for dinner. Happy belated birthday America!

Having a slow morning with some coffee as well. And just finished installing Dune: Awakening, which I'll start into later tonight.

I could never watch a movie or a TV show on screens that small. I am WAY too spoiled for that!

Trying to get through a long day at work after being on PTO since last Wednesday. Sometimes it feels like there isn't enough coffee in the world.

I hear that. And factor in the audio, too. I converted my home office into a 2nd HT room after I started working remote full time early 2010s. It has become a mancave. And talk about spoiled, here I am complaining about a long day at work when my commute is about 50 feet with the aforementioned amenities.

I have tried watching a movie a couple of times while out and about and waiting for someone/something, but still can't do it. Thank goodness for e-books and/or audio books in those situations.

Just caught a mouse and escorted him out.

Enjoying a cold one. Gonna be a long day tomorrow but at least we’re getting Barry Lyndon tomorrow on 4K.

My weekend so had to come back up to the mountains. I drove into Yosemite a short ways and rode the bike around. Now I'm at my base at Twin Lakes where I'll probably call it a night pretty soon. Probably have another 45 minutes of daylight left but I've been up for almost 23 hours so getting some rest isn't the worst idea.

Woke up so freaking congested this morning, I feel like the NyQuil I took last night didn't make much of a difference. Oh well.

Been enjoying much needed time off from the world. Spent my 4th of July seeing a double feature at the theaters. I went to my local arthouse to see Independence Day and then over to Regal to catch Jurassic World Rebirth. After that I went home and was completely sick. My stomach, intestines, and general lower abdomen area were killing me. It was awful.

I felt immediately better the next day only to have my left knee hurting like hell. It was hurting bad enough that I brought it up to my doctor yesterday at my 3 month checkup. My options were physical therapy or see a specialist and maybe have an injection. First off, my insurance won't cover physical therapy. And secondly, I am not having anyone inject anything into my knee. I hate needles and I avoid them as best as possible. I am hating this new 3 month checkup deal cause of that.

The only way you could inject anything into my knee is for me to be completely under. I suggested we wait and see how things are at the next checkup. Then I went home, took some Target brand Migraine medicine, and went to sleep* in my bed for the first time in I don't know how long. I'm usually sleeping on the couch. I need this depression to end once and for all. Thankfully, my knee is much better now. On the plus side, my friend dropped off my tie dyed New Bohemians shirt he did for me. SO cool.

*I didn't go straight to bed/sleep when I got home. It was probably a good 7-8 hours after. If not more.

I prefer Cape June. It's much nicer. However, I will avoid Cape August like a politician avoids the truth.

I totally understand and I am the same way. To worse degrees even. I won't even watch adult content on a laptop/phone. For the most part anyway. It's watched 99% of the time on my big screen TV. I don't even watch adult content on the big screen via the internet. It's 100% discs or download. I'm not going to buy this big sucker and just watch crappy content on it. Within reason anyway. I let a couple of things here & there slip.

When are you going to learn? You find a mouse in your house, KILL IT. The only good mouse is a dead mouse. Though, I'm not sure how you escort a mouse out. Is it some sort of bouncer type deal? Or do you use a broom? The fact that you do THAT at all is confounding. I cannot deal with mice. They will be killed, but someone else has to do that. NO TOUCHY.

Had breakfast and now trying to decide what I'm going to do. Thought about renting a kayak or even a motorized boat but not sure if I'll get out on the lake. I've only been out on one previous trip when I rented a kayak for an hour.

I might do some hiking or maybe I'll just continue being a bum which I find perfectly acceptable

A few pics from yesterday

This is Pinecrest Lake which I briefly checked out on the way up. This isn't the lake that I base at.

Not much but a little snow still left even in the summer

And along Tioga Pass headed up to Yosemite

Working while enjoying an iced coffee, with mindless popcorn flicks playing in the background... the food-stuff of summer.

I got him on a glue board and slid it onto a shovel to bring outside. I said “sorry little buddy, but you killed Gene Hackman!”

I thought you were supposed to pick it up with the shovel after you smacked it with said shovel.

Not in the house. Plus it’s a plastic shovel.

It was late in the evening and I didn’t feel like dealing with it. I think he got away or was eaten.
