Sittin in my truck on my lunch break, listening to a local radio morning show and checking the application status for a local-ish UPS driver position. I really hope I get it cause it'll be nice to have a job with an actual schedule instead of my current 12 hrs 1 day, 7-9 the next B.S. and I won't be starting at 4-f**king-AM! At this point I don't even mind the $5/hr pay cut

This was me last Saturday morning. Sat in the basement home theater room with the DirecTV tuned to some music video station on to warm up the system a bit and just plain sat there. 30 minutes later, I realized I had been texting back and forth with a friend while videos from Demi Lovato and the ilk played in the background. It was just plain awful.

Sitting here getting ready to have a hot cup of coffee and waiting to throw a load into the dryer before I give my son his afternoon meds. Going to try and sit with him this time to try and prevent him from throwing it up or at least be there if he does. Still not wanting to eat, but I think that's because he's afraid of throwing up more than the surgeries effect.

I had forgotten we get exactly 1 paid day off for the Christmas-New Year's week. Lame...almost time to go see if I can catch those insurance people, they weren't there when I swung by at 2.

We get Xmas & the 26th off & the 1st & the 2nd off this year. Couple of nice little 4 day weekends for us

we got the 25th and 26th off. it was weird them not giving us the 24th off. but that's why i put in to have that day off over a month ago.

jan 1st is kind of weird, too.

in the newsletter we get (weekly thing), it says that our company observes new year's day as a company holiday.

BUT...

they also put that we will be open and accepting appointments on that day. so it will not allow us to complete shut down.

also, non-exempt employees (i.e., someone like me) will be scheduled like normal.


so it's quite confusing since it says it's an observed company holiday, yet we will be open and accepting appointments. last time i checked, being open and working isn't the same as observing a holiday.

We only get the totally major holidays off, but I had 23 days off this year and come January 1st, I get an additional 5 days for my 11th year at the company.

I was mistaken we get the 1st off as well, I guess next year's paid holidays aren't showing yet since we're still in 2017. At least we're only 1 hour away from being 40% through this work week.
