Fought with my work laptop all morning after they pushed a sh*t ton of security updates last night, but thankfully got it working after I dunno, 57 shutdown and restarts. Oh well, it's Friday the 13th I suppose, so go figure.

EDIT: Scratch that, it's effing hosed again.

Didn't mean for this to be so long, sorry

Turns out there is a Cousin ( female ) on my wife's side who lives and dies by FB.

When my wife's mother died a couple weeks ago ( at home under Hospice care ) her ( the mothers )
oldest son ( and main caregiver ) was still informing family when he discovered that the Cousin had already Posted about her death on FB.

Turns out when she was informed the 1st thing she did was Post about it, and I mean right after she was told

We were all very upset at her for doing that.
She knew she wasn't the last person to be informed about the death, my wife's bother was still telling people
when he found out she had already Posted about it on FB.

It had been decided that when the arrangements were set, to tell the cousin DO NOT POST about the Funeral Time when she was told about it.
And she would be the very last person informed about the time and place of the Funeral

BUT....
Before that could even happen, she just couldn't wait to be contacted....
She was already trying to get that info. from my wife's bother ( who was making the arrangements ), and our kids, who are on FB....
But she got no reply from them...

Than we got a phone call ( this Forum is the most social networking we do ) from the Cousin wanting to know the time and place of the Funeral.
( this is still just hours after the death )
My wife told her she didn't know yet, her bother was ( at that moment ) at the Funeral Home working that out ( but we did know ) ...

This was a much bigger deal than I am even making out here, everyone was pissed at her for what she did,
and the fact that she had gone as far as to call us when the others hadn't replied to her about the when and where of the Funeral.

It kind of took the attention away from my wife's mom for awhile ( where all the attention should of been )

If given the info ( and not been told to not post it ) she would of Posted every little bit of who, when, where, and
for anyone who wanted to do some harm ( break into a house ) could of just done some simple investigating to get
the home address's of some of the people who would of not been home at a certain day and time

Unreal. People have ZERO self-awareness when it comes to what/when to post the most intimate of details. It's like information overload/vomiting. It's totally overboard and also, like you said, can be a safety risk if this type of information falls into the wrong hands.

Volunteering at the regional food bank warehouse for work today. Had I known i would be representing my entire shift I probably would have stayed in bed this morning.

and you can add that to the myriad reasons i don't use facebook. this forum, and 2 or 3 others, is the only type of "social networking" i do.

anybody i want to talk to with any regularity (that's not on this site or one of the other forums), i have their phone number AND their home address. i can get in touch with them if i need to. don't need no facebook or twitter for that.

And this right here is is what disgusts me about the "look at me, I'm the center of attention" mentality of most of the people on Facebook. Always craving the likes and the attention as if it validates their entire existance.

Going to clean up a bit at the house before I go meet up with Lisa later this afternoon. We're going to go see A Quiet Place at the theater at Santana Row. She wanted to go there so we could walk around a bit before or after the show

Back in the day when I dated, I always took my date to a scary movie,
they always seemed to want to see them too ( for the same reason I'm sure )

lol

I remember one time when I was stationed in Yuma that I took this girl to the movie but I took her to the wrong theater and wrong movie. This was back in 2000 probably. I can't remember what movie she wanted to see and what we ended up seeing but it was just a complete brainfart. I didn't do it on purpose lol I'm wondering if we might have seen End Of Days.

Also this other time when I was stationed in Pensacola for "A" school, a buddy and I met up with this girl at the theater on base. I had met her at the gym and I think she was a dependent. She had the nicest legs Anyway, while my buddy and I were at the theater waiting for her, I was kind of hoping that she wouldn't show so that we could see the movie we really wanted to see This was back in '98 and I have absolutely no idea what movies were involved.

Oh, I totally get it RageATL and BWBODDY. I originally joined Facebook around the time my son was born to keep family up to speed on him, but it has kind of been snowballed into something else. So I don't post as much, especially with me trying to pack up my collectibles and the house. Trust me,I've got better online friends than family. This is the reason why I haven't posted on my Facebook wall what is going on with the house or our plans to move to Texas. Because it becomes less about my family and more about how this will affect them

I've only let a small circle of my friends know about my move. Most of them either live or have lived in Texas. So it gives me am idea. Up until today, most have been pretty helpful. I'm actually considering Instagram at this point, but I have friends who use Twitter for the same reason you pointed out RageATL. I've got an account, but never use it. I'm too long winded. My wife loves Reddit. She says it is more positive than Facebook

Anyway, sitting here chilling before we go sign some documents on the house in another hour. Shit is getting real real. Going to have to step up my game on this packing up project. Might have to make another tote run soon. I won't know until I wrap up some of the misc stuff. I'm saving Star Wars for last. I'm kind of hoping most of the ships fit in the totes and then I'll pack up the bigger vehicles in regular boxes so my wife doesn't kill me

Just sent my first Tweet. There goes the neighborhood.

Question for all you Tweeter gurus. Can I have two different accounts on the same phone with no cross mojo between the two?
