Well thanks a lot, I already wanted a milkshake. Think I'll go get one tomorrow, just because. Won't be from Shake Shack though.

Never been to Shake Shack.

I'm sure it beats waiting an hour for a milkshake at Steak n Shake

also, what constitutes what's popular? and who decides what is and isn't popular with regards to movies/films. is it simply based on the number of people that saw the movie at a theater? or is it based solely on word-of-mouth? or how much press-time it got? or how big the budget was? or how well it did in one country vs. any other country? because what's popular in this country may not be so in another; and vice versa.
A gimmick to get viewership numbers up. The Academy Awards, as a tv event, is on life support, and these annual tinkerings haven't done anything to improve the ratings. This one sounds like the equivalent of a Participation Award.

Just got off the phone with my goddaughter, nice little wake up call at midnight (only 9pm her time), she really misses us - we spoke for almost 3 hours (thank God I still have her under my mobile family plan). She's about to start school in a week and is especially nervous about that, I guess her mom decided it would benefit her best to go to a private school (hey if she can afford it, who am I to complain). Spoke briefly with her mom and apparently she's got a 3 week vacation in December, so I'm going to invite them both to spend Christmas with us, since didn't have any plans anyway.

Checking my voicemail and shaking my head. FIVE (!!!!) messages from the new manager at the shop I've been helping at, all asking how to do something or asking if I can work today. First off he knows i have a day job and don't always have my phone only me. Secondly, I'm an hourly supervisor not a salaried manager like him, so it would technically be illegal to take a work related call off the clock which he should already know. Lastly, the questions are rather basic that he should already know, damn I when companies hire outsiders for management positions. I mean you should have some experience with every position you're overseeing to qualify.

I could never figure out why schools started at the end of the week. Not to mention how different states start & end differently. For example schools up here start the first week of September and go to mid June while my cousins' kids in tbe Midwest start early August like your niece, and my goddaughter will starting at a private school out west next Tuesday...some schools don't even have summer vacations which seems absurd to me.

no idea

my mom says when she was in school, they always started the day after labor day; and their last day was the last week day in may.

in Japan, the school year starts in april and goes through july
...summer break...
the next term starts in september and runs through december
then the next term starts in january and runs through march

so their summer break is shorter than here in the U.S. plus, they have the option of taking classes on saturday. and it's most likely the reason for this:

Literacy

Male 99.9%
Female 99.9%

Was on a call all day yesterday until 10:15 last night and back at it again today. Good thing I'm WFH and there's preseason football to look forward to tonight!
